any info from 343 about a future scorpio Patch?

I totally will re-play the game a couple of times to see it in its full glory…assuming that ALL of the graphical shortcomings are removed

  • resolution scaling
  • half frame animations
  • texture scaling
  • Shadow scaling

And so on and so forth

I don’t think it would be too hard to do

(of course a nice expansion where we play JUST as the chief would be good too)

I think that will be the halo news for E3. H5 @ 4k. Won’t matter to me. Not buying Scorpio until H6.

I am…for halo 5 4k60 with all effects cranked…and Shadow of war

I feel like the “little something” we’re going to at e3 is going to be halo 5/halo wars 2/ halo mcc run on the scorpio since Xbox at this e3 is going to be all about the Scorpio.

I don’t see any value in looks anymore since the standard is already pretty good, plus 4K isn’t worth it to me for a console. I’d get it for performance reasons that effect gameplay I.E. cut down on lag, won’t stutter in games, etc etc.

I don’t expect the Scorpio to cut down on lag. Lag is a byproduct of latency. Unless Scorpio comes with a fiber optic cable to run to your modem/router, I don’t see anything about it decreasing latency.

Could the game just be patched for the Scorpio? Would it require a re-release?

If what MS said is true and the Ps4Pro is any indication, a patch will be the only thing necessary. Mind you Halo 5 is already >100 gigs of storage I shudder to imagine how much it will occupy on a Scorpio with a Patch to crank the graphics.

Eh I wouldn’t be so sure. 343 may not opt to go all out on updating the game for Scorpio. Maybe max the graphics, but that’s about it. They have other projects to work on that are in full swing by now. Also Halo 5 is not really optimized well. Game degradation from frame drops, inconsistent servers, all the liabilities of the engine are there and they can’t just remove them since the game is already out. They can more or less eliminate thw shortcomings of the current engine, but removing it entirely is likely impossible.

Really hope not because then it’ll be boring as all hell. We’ve already seen the games and the MCC is still a joke. I really want a Halo 3 Anniversary made from the ground up with Scorpio’s graphics. Show what the console can do and give us a Halo 3 remaster without borking it this time.

E3 is a week away so we’ll hear it there if anything.

At the first part: Scorpio gives them the “magic” to compress files=less memory taking up space, I’m calling it.

Xbox press briefing on Sunday at 2PM Pacific. If it means anything, the E3 teaser video includes a scene from Halo Wars 2.

Theoretically it could actually cut down on install and game sizes due to less need for HD Textures that a lot of games hamfist in due to a console’s graphical limitations. Those easily are 8-12 GB IIRC. BF3 had an 8 GB Texture pack and I remember being floored that it took up like 32GB on my 360 with the DLC

That’s what we all want my friend, but 343 made it abundantly clear it’s not happening.

343 also said Master Chief Collection wasn’t happening.

Sorry for the ignorance, but what exactly is Scorpio?

Upgraded console from MS. Still will play Xbox One games, but will supposedly run games at 4K resolutions 60 frames per second.

A very basic snapshot.

Huh. That’s pretty cool. Any talk about pricing? Especially if you already have the One, it’d kinda be a bummer if it was like a full price console.

Most details should be revealed at E3. Last I checked though Phil Spencer said something along the lines of a premium product since that is what it will be, but I also recall seeing that he wanted to provide an incentive for current owners to upgrade so who knows. I know MS had a promotion where they would buy your PS3 or 360 and give you a $100 credit towards the Xbox One so maybe something similar to that?

Hmm, yeah, I would need a pretty good incentive. While 4k and 60fps is nice, if that’s the ONLY upgrade it’s not really all that worth it in my eyes only 'cause my priorities are different and I don’t really need 4k/60fps personally.

Theoretically the more powerful hardware would prevent the various scalings from happening since it wouldn’t have to struggle to preserve the 60fps, patch or no patch.
