Any In-Universe information about the new weapons?

Hey Waypoint.

Was wondering if anyone has seen, read or has access to any information regarding the new UNSC weapons? Any speculation or discussion going on about them?
I see everyone discussing the multiplayer, but no one is discussing the implications in the fiction as well.

There is that new single-fire RPG that vaguely resembles the modern, real world AT4 unguided anti-tank weapon. Was there any clips of it being used showcased from Halofest?

The other was also a new multishot rail-gun type design.

I’m assuming that they are replacing, or supplementing the M41 SSR & ARC-920 respectively. The traditional Rocket Launcher (M41) has yet to be seen, and it’s possible that it may be getting replaced by this new RPG. The change from a 2 round to 1 round rocket may be due to gameplay balance? It’s possible they may want to make power weapon kills much more difficult to get. Limiting the amount of ammunition you can fire in succession can surely do that. But why would the UNSC suddenly appear to have a down grade? Does the launcher itself use a unique type of projectile?

The other appears to use ammunition similar to that of the AR-920 Railgun. The exception is that it is now in a revolving cylinder like firing mechanism. But, as we see in the quick snippets of footage during the Guardians beta trailer (on that new, overgrown Covenant map) they seem to fire more like tiny homing rockets.

Any thoughts? or have I lost everyone?

Unfortunately no info yet on the new launchers, from nomenclature, characteristics, or ammo types.

We only briefly glimpse the multi-shot launcher in footage and it seems to fire homing grenades.

Of the 4 maps shown, none featured the single-shot tube launcher, so no clue how that will work. It could function similarly to a javelin and lock onto vehicles and other hard targets. One possibility as to why the unsc would replace the M19 with it (canonically) is that a reloadable tube launcher is cheaper than the M19’s non-reusable dual-tube magazines.

Also, one small detail is that as far as canon goes the SMG is technically “new” since it uses a different method of feed than the M7 (new one features a top-loaded “turntable” magazine whereas the old one was side-fed), so it will probably have a different nomenclature (M8/c, M9/c, etc.)

Double post.
