Any Ideas on if 343 should add the DMR to Halo Infinite?

Do you guys think that the DMR should be added to Halo Infinite?

I think that the DMR should be added to make a mid-long range weapon that is similar to the Stalker Rifle for the UNSC as some maps could be based towards UNSC weapons. The issue being that the Battle Rifle is the only mid-long range weapon asides maybe the Sniper Rifle for the UNSC. For example if someone made a UNSC Raid map they would have very little options for mid-long range weapons as their options would be the Sniper Rifle or the BR. This gun could stay out of ranked and social multiplayer if needed but stay in Forge and Custom games to make map design easier. Also it could make gameplay more interesting and fun for long range maps.

I would love if they did. I was busy and did not get to play the beta a couple of months ago and was surprised when it was not available to play with. I know that they have something that is similar but it is not quite the same. The DMR is personally my favorite gun (that doesn’t one-shot people) and I would love for it to come back.

I think that might still add it near future, or that what I keep telling myself. HAHAHA

The DMR is my favorite weapon in Halo.

The commando is the new version of the Dmr, which has been combined with the carbine firerate. And the stalker rifle has taken it place as the new strong hitting marksmen rifle underneath the power level of the snipers.

Some Forgers and players tend to like to play with UNSC weapons in custom games and also as a Forger having the ability to make maps with a theme is nice like a UNSC map or a banished map with weapon connected to the map. Halo 5 did a great job at making sure that every gun had a similar weapon in the other groups. For example you had the DMR, the Carbine, and the Light Rifle all guns that have the same role. Also you had the Assault Rifle, the Storm Rifle, and the Suppressor. This allowed for a great sandbox for forgers.

When you use the DMR and the Commando you can see how they are completely different guns. The Commando is for good damage at mid-short range with full auto. The DMR is a mid-long range gun that is semi-automatic which is a good counter to the Sniper Rifles. Sure when I had seen the Commando in the gameplay trailer I had though it was the same as the DMR but after playing it with the release of the Beta I realized that they have very little similarities. Also understand that 343 has 3 different gun models that they could use if they were wanting to add it. It would take a lot less time then adding a completely new gun. To add to that the DMR in reach has the same type of play style as the weapons in Halo Infinite because of its bloom.

I agree with you in this case.

The Commando really needs to have a lot of shots in order to kill someone, you missed some and you are death. This gun needs tweaks on the firepower.

The DMR was a great on all the way on the battlefield and on multiplayer. I will cheer up if they add guns on the future and not only stick with the ones already on the beta.

I agree it should be added the commandos recoil and kill time makes it a poor pick choice in my opinion. And the BR is very rare to get ahold of.

Would love for them to add the DMR, I’m a Reach kid and miss the gun already. Hopefully it’s added soon!

The commando really needs a tweak, everyone just leave it on the wall. hahahahaha i just pick it for the weekly challanges.

And both those weapons suck compared to the DMR. Infinite’s watered down weapon sandbox is honestly a bad thing I say.

I want the Halo: Reach DRM, Halo: CE Shotgun, Halo 3 Spartan Laser, Halo 3 Bubble Shield, Halo 3 Flame Grenades.

*Edit, wouldn’t mind the SMG’s either if they added Dual Weilding for pistols and SMG’s.

Isn’t the Stalker Rifle kind of similar to the DMR? I think it’s like 3 shots too. I wouldn’t compare the Commando though; that thing has massive recoil and is automatic

I’m sure we’ll see it eventually post launch. They’ve said in the past that they’d like to add some fan favorites back into the mix when they can balance them to fit in the new sandbox. At the time they were talking about the magnum and shotgun, but I can absolutely see the DMR falling into the same category.

The thing is for Forgers and players like to have more variety. In Halo 5 about every gun had a similar weapon for the UNSC, Covanate and the Forerunner. This allowed Forgers to make maps based on certain groups like a UNSC based map. Yes it is true that the Stalker Rifle is similar to the DMR, the thing is Halo Infinite should have the DMR as a UNSC version of the gun for more variety because if I want a mid-long range gun I either have to use the Stalker Rifle or the BR at the moment.

Understandable, but doesn’t having the same functioning weapon in each class kind of eliminate the identity of each class?

Given the live service element of the game I’d honestly be surprised if we didn’t see most, if not all, Halo weapons return in some form.
