Remember the Halo 3 Ranked play playlists? Lone Wolves, Team Slayer, Team Doubles, Team Swat, Squad Battle, and Team Objective I believe
They went from rank 1 to 50, with 50 being top
In my reminiscence of this Perfection! of a game, Im wondering what the player rank distribution was back in 2009/2010 or any time really.
For example, in Rocket League we have ranks like (simplified. there is actually Gold 1, 2, and 3 for example)
Percent of players in a rank
Grand Champion: 0.11% (like a special “Champ 4”)
Champion: 4%
Diamond: 22.2%
Platinum: 35.7%
Gold: 25%
Silver: 11%
Bronze: 2%

Which gives a pretty normal distribution about the middle. Pro play takes place in about the top 5%.
So just to reiterate differently, if you just got into low platinum, you can say you are in the 100-(2+11+25) = 62nd percentile
Rocket League recalibrates the ranks often, so if Bungie did this too, we can expect it more likely to be evenly distributed and on rank 25!
Im wondering what these might have been looking like for halo 3’s Lone Wolves free-for-all playlist. I don’t expect much data since last last update was 3/31/12, but even any hunch of an idea will do from a classic Halo fan. If no saved data, I’m wondering was it centered on mid rank? highish rank like 35? Normally distributed, widely/narrowly distributed, skewed low/high? What is your hunch? I have no intuition because back when I played, I just never thought about how the population stands and was tunnel visioned on just ranking up lol.
I SO SO badly would love some data. Any year, any playlist at least. I would honor you forever!
