Title says it all. Because of the savagely overpriced Australian games market I’ll be buying most of mine from overseas from now on - but before I do I want to make sure I can actually play them
And just a general question; does anyone know whether a region free game from a non PAL area can be played on a PAL TV?
How much more expensive are games over there?
Well at the moment the Aust dollar is worth 1.04 US, so pretty much equal.
For example the RRP for CEA looks to be about $70 Aust, instead of the $40 in the US. Most new full games these days are sold at $110 - 120 which is frankly ridiculous given the parity of the dollars.
From my experience 360 games aren’t region locked. I had a European version of Crackdown 2 that I got from a friend while in Iraq and it ran on my US 360 just fine.
Edit: It might be worth noting that this was also a reviewer copy of the game.
Dunno much about region locking but the region locking should be less likely if you get games from other pal regions (europe/nz (but I guess they have similar price hikes?)) as NTSC games working on pal consoles and vice versa requires them to be completely unlocked. But I am quite sure that NTSC (US/JP) games will only display in 60hz. If your tv only supports 50hz then there will be some display problems.
Ht up google and wikipedia for better (and more solid) information.
Well I bought an iPhone overseas for $399 from America and brought it to Europe (iPhone is €800 in Europe) and it seemed to work fine. IF that helps.
I don’t think XBox 360 games are region locked. Not many things are.
