Since halo infinite is free to play personally me I dont think it should be free to play because of the microtransactions thing but 343 spoke on that already but something else about it that I thought about and has me alittle worried is all the cheaters/modders I hope 343 has really good anti cheat to stop cheating before it starts and a plan to punish and band cheaters because I dont want a situation like with call of duty mw warzone that game is free to play and is plagued by cheaters/modders

I think microtransactions are fine if they don’t impact play and are not predatory. Cosmetic microtransactions are fine as long as the some of the best armor/weapon skins are reserved for the highest levels in my opinion. Anti-cheat is interesting. I believe on PC anti-cheat already exists on MCC.
Here’s the thing about free to play. On paper, it sounds great. Anyone that has the smallest interest in the game, can give it a try. If they like it, then they may become a fan for life. But at the same time, someone that whats to pervert the gameplay, and cause chaos, they will. And if their account gets banned, it is free to just start again. As you have said, just look at all other free games, it is full of cheaters.
Free to Play multiplayer & Microtransactions come hand in hand. They game needs direct funding to be supported for post launch content and such.
343i’s anti cheat within the SlipSpace engine sounds interesting and I’m not particularly worried about it at the moment.
With the anti cheat focusing more on player behaviour within matches it should allow the game to easily detect cheaters and take them out of the matchmaking pool, ban etc.
It’s not going to be a perfect system, nothing ever is. If it gets out of hand I’m sure 343i will step in.
We need to remember that 343i is owned by Xbox who is owned by Microsoft - one of the biggest software companies on the planet. If they need help improving the anti cheat software they have the means available.
F2p games are all plagued with cheaters. You don’t see it in MCC because it’s a small population from Steam. Easy anti-chest doesn’t always work as I know someone who had 1500 hours in dbd using cheats before easy anti cheat detected it. Mcc uses easy.
Realistically, it will start plagued with cheaters but instead of an account ban they need to enforce an HWID ban when players are caught.
Let’s hope they are okay losing thousands of players who are cheating and not do what Destiny does by taking years to catch them while their microtransaction store is updated daily.
