But people will be able to buy armor with money. What difference does it make if the game is F2P or not? It’s still the same outcome for the people who buy the armor.
What about Valorant or For Honor? Those aren’t pre-released already established games.
Because sales would drop off significantly. Whether you want to believe it or not, one of the main reasons people spend real world money on cosmetic items is for self expression. A toggle that negates self expression will cheapen the experience and ultimately hurt the future of Halo Infinite. It’s a necessary evil. I may not like every cosmetic item in the shop but I recognize the importance of appealing to as large a group as possible with the cosmetic offerings. The game literally depends on it. To me, there shouldn’t be an argument at all. Because one clearly outweighs the other by a landslide.
You’re speaking in theory. In practice nobody using cat ears or armor effects would be able to tell if anyone else doesn’t see the cosmetics they bought. That’s how this works in practice. These toggles have had zero impact to e-shop revenue in the games they have been applied to. You are clenching pearls for no reason.
You are making up facts for no reason. You are not privy to that information. “zero-impact” “revenue” etc. You aren’t even naming a particular game to purposely be as vague as possible. Halo Infinite is in no position to be taking chances like that. Especially when it won’t equate to more money and most likely will equate to less money.
It makes sense, to some degree, for MCC. Because these are legacy games that hold a special place in the hearts of many. But Infinite is a new game hoping to garner new players (1st) while appealing to it’s semi-loyal fan base (2nd)
lol I named two.
How about you show something that shows that a toggle negatively impacted sales instead of barking without any proof
Naming two doesn’t mean you know the impact it’s had on their “revenue” like you claim to. How about you drop this ridiculous quest and focus even half this much attention on something that would actually benefit Halo Infinite?
You don’t care thaaaaaaat much about cat ears. You are just pretending you do because nobody can care THAT much about cat ears. Especially cat ears that directly support the game. It’s an uphill losing battle.
You are trying to make 343 spend time and money to implement a feature that may end up costing them money. Why in their right minds would they ever do that? They’re just getting started dude. May be best to step aside and see what they do for a minute.
You’re the one bringing up the claims that it impacts sales. Show the proof or shut up
I have.
I care about cat ears? News to me. This whole time I thought they weren’t having any effect on me. But I guess you’re the professional here.
And i thought they started 7 years ago when they were developing the game. Or the 9 months after the game came out. My mistake, i did not know that they’re JUST getting started. Yeah sure I’ll give them a minute. lol
Not to mention there is also a bit of a sexist angle here. Which isn’t a good look in 2022. As many of these cosmetic items toggled off will likely be those aimed at the female demographic.
I don’t believe I’ve ever been called racial slurs by a cosmetic item.
I can’t speak for anyone else but myself and my friend group. We are absolutely willing to leave over stuff like this.
And if no one cares that much then no one will care if they are no longer able to force people to see them knowing that many other people do not like it.
No they are just getting started with the live service thing. As stated by themselves recently. They hope to eventually get to 3 month seasons with everything moving along smoothly. Halo Infinite is still budding.
No offense but maybe you should. If you aren’t supporting the game then what good are you doing? Hating on and threatening to leave because of something that directly supports the game, is you NOT supporting the game.
This is just bad take. Not every game needs feminine or masculine cosmetics/qualities/features. We are not saying let us toggle them off because they are feminine, if you could even say that it would only apply to cat ears maybe and not the Eagle Strike armor i also say is a problem. It is because it doesn’t fit Halo’s tone it has always historically had.
Not every game needs to appeal to everyone. I know this might sound appalling to hear but just look at Elden Ring for example. That game made no effort to appeal to anyone who didn’t already like the souls-bourne genre, no fairies and rainbows, no easy mode, no over the top gore. The devs knew their audience and made the best game for that audience. That is what every dev should do as no game can possibly appeal to everyone.
Fire on head.
Fire on shoulders.
Fire while walking/sliding
Skull explosions on kill
Phoenix explosions on kill
WWI looking armor
Samurai looking armor
Oh yeah. Nothing but traditionally feminine cosmetics being turned off.
Muh sexism. lol
My point still stands. You go ahead and eat up the BS at your own leisure.
No offense but maybe you should. If you aren’t supporting the game then what good are you doing? Hating on and threatening to leave because of something that directly supports the game, is you NOT supporting the game.
And again for the 1000th time. Not every change is good, even if it seems good in the short term. Turnimg Halo into something it isn’t is not good for the game and arguing that it should be mutated to try to attract new people is not a win. Again for the billionth time NO ONE, NOT A SINGLE INDIVIDUAL IS PLAYING HALO BECAUSE THEY HAVE CAT EARS.
But people are willing to leave because they are in essence not Halo. I brought up the Sequel Trilogy in Star Wars earlier. Just because Disney made it to appeal to a new audience does not mean it was good. In fact they are objectively trash if you cared 1% about Star Wars and did way more harm than good to the franchise even if in the short term they made a few bucks.
Maybe in caps you can read it better.
No company has a right to sales or players. They must earn us and if they want to turn us away for new players they have that right but not the right to have their playerbase just sit in silence and be force fed whatever 343 wants to make. We make our opinions known and if they care about this subset of the playerbase then they will cater to us. If not they will see us leave.
If your weak points still stand than mine must really be standing haha.
Bottom line is you can’t see the forest through the trees. Gotta look at the bigger picture.
Think of it more like a business that desperately needs to succeed. Instead of trying to stifle it, it may be better to understand why things are the way they are. And why one clearly outweighs the other.
NO ONE, NOT A SINGLE INDIVIDUAL IS PLAYING HALO BECAUSE THEY HAVE CAT EARS.
I promise you anyone who just spent real world money on them is. Without a doubt bro. Just admit, it doesn’t effect you as much as you’re pretending it does. You might see cat ears for 2 whole seconds in game.
Except they aren’t. They might like wearing them in game but they are not playing because of the cat ears. If that is truly the case then dang Halo is in a bad spot trying to appeal to that tiny market because player counts are low.
Had Infinite of never had the cat ears or the other items we are talking about it would for a fact have the exact same player base as it does now if not more.
