so i just had a match where this guy went maas banachee. well i has 20 tech 3 reavers vs 35 banachees and they lost. this is pathetic and heres why they lost and it needs to be changed
every time the air got it range for aome stupid reason all 20 only killed 1 banachee at a time. why why the hell would you put such bad smart ai in this game. the lock on ai needs a change, anti air should target only enough to kill the unit
that means an army of 20 reavers should smart lockonto 6 banachees. thats 6 kills per valley
20/6 is about 3 valleys per air unit, more than enough.
this is just completely unfaur air is so overpowered. not only does anti air delay tech but it hardely even hard counters, infact is barely works
wolverines are way better which makes no since. they cost less fire quicker and are way better price per unit.

why don’t you mix tech 3 banshees with your reavers? I think the reason reavers are worse than wolves is because unsc doesn’t have 2 ways to counter air like banished does.
banshees have an anti air upgrade and unsc just has wolves.
I think it’s weird that HW2 is a rock, paper, scissors balance, but there’s almost no reason to make infantry to combat air. I guess marines are okay because of the RPG upgrade. Still Air units are fast and able to kite infantry easy. I don’t know I’d be in favor of an anti-air infantry unit.
Edit: Maybe infantry’a final upgrade (marines/grunts) could be troop transport warthog or a prowler/specter with rockets/fuel rods.

but how would that be balanced? reaver winning a 1v4 vs banshees. literally 1200 resources losing to 1 175R 225P unit. that doesn’t make sense. its way to cost effective for the reaver player.
why would core units be used anymore? the game shouldn’t be turned into lets all only build the same counter units. I would like to see core units like gauss or marauders or hornets be used. I think the devs need to figure out how to price units. we already know they have no clue how to, since they don’t know how to price a scout let alone all the units in the game.
anyways 8 reavers beating 20 banshees is wayyy too cost effective.
The cost of anti air and the fact that air is the only thing they can attack they should be much better. If you watch Btc they say it time and again anti air isn’t much competition for banshees.
I’ve reluctantly come to the same conclusion as the OP. First of all, as Banished I now routinely go air because the counters (particularly Reavers) are not that effective – especially if you throw shrouds into the mix. Moreover, if I’m facing air, I now will go mainly air in return. I’ll pump out a few reavers to hold in the back of my army, but having a ton of reavers is a death sentence.
The chopper/engineer to full banshee play is the most common play I see now from the banished. I play as UNSC and it’s very hard to stop with choppers getting the map control and power nodes early. It costs hardly any power, very mobile, and very hard to counter. You almost have to fully expect it from the start to have a chance. Wolverines and reavers barely have a chance to keep up with the spam and you end up sacrificing upgrades with the unit, because wolverines need power to produce, and you need a lot. They just aren’t cost effective, but again are essential. Anti-air turrets however are actually very good from both factions, so drawing them into your base with turrets up isn’t a bad idea.
Also I could be wrong with this cause I play banished 1 out of 10 times maybe, but I think grunts are actually a lot more effective than marines against air. Might need to fact check that for me.
The banshee spam is real, especially in team games. The team that has one player going mass upgraded banshees will probably pull ahead. Leader powers make it more difficult. You always need at least one player focusing on only anti-air, which is more costly and about useless against anything else.
I would agree with upping anti-air, but only slightly.
When someone is going full air (and you’re Banished as well) you have to gauge how many upgrades they got. I’ve won games where I start spamming a bit too late, but I can get upgrades first and faster, and if you manage to get Plasma Torpedo first it is a great helper. Of course if the enemy has the upper hand in upgrades and army numbers then that means you’re so behind you possibly just lost the game.
The thing about Banshees is that you can’t fight head on, they’re very squishy against a good composition. If you’re going to combar air don’t go full anti-air, mix some core infantry and air as well at least in the current meta. Remember that even if Reavers and Wolves are buffed to deal with air more easily you’ll end up with an army of units that can’t destroy buildings. So this is very dangerous, keep that in mid all the time when you’re building your army.
I don’t agree a reaver should 1v4 banshees, that’s just so broken, Banshees have got into the meta just now and with this change they would be unviable completely. There has to be a middle ground. Remember Air beats Vehicles, so Banshees can still deal quite some damage with the fuel rod cannon.
I’ve always thought Reavers were one of the most balanced units, but I don’t know, if there’s going to be a buff for them I’d rather have it in the form of price cuts and build time decrease.

That’s pretty unbalanced in my opinion. You’ve got to look at cost of units too: Reaver costs 5 pop., 175 resource and 225 power, while 3 banshees are 9 pop., 900 resource.
You also need to consider unit typing: Air beats vehicle, vehicle beats infantry, infantry beats air. The Reaver and Wolverine might very well be anti-air units, but they’re also vehicles which in the rock-paper-scissor mechanic should be destroyed by air.
They should have added an anti-air infantry, anti-infantry vehicle, anti-vehicle air which would make more sense, but they probably did so the way they did because if you’re pulling a vehicle army with global upgrades, then you’re going to want to use the globally upgraded wolverine/reaver instead of the un-upgraded infantry.

I agree and maybe a unit cap cost as well so you cant have a possible 40 banshees

i prefer team play,.bigger battles atleast for me thats far more fun
i honestly think anti airs a joke. i had a match today where i had 12 reavers vs 15 banachees with my army supporting and i barely killed them. upgrades have nothing to do with them firing 1 to 2 per valley and then the remaining missiles useless.
every unit should have proper smart ai, anti air has worae ai that brutes… they need to fix this stuff.

no idea what any of you are talking about, anti-air is basically fine. you need to treat them like grunts, they focus on cost efficiency, production speed, and numbers, more so with wolverines than with reavers cause reavers have better stats/ability. you need to make a lot of anti-air and/or keep pumping them out, its easy to do that
