I just want to know who is in charge of making these garbage maps? Overgrowth and now Riptide. Both are equally bad and just do not flow like a good map should. Please start making new maps (not using forge either) that flow like old classic halo maps. I can speak for the community when I say that these “remakes” of already existing maps should not be a thing. It is just literally laughable at how bad the two DLC maps for arena have been.
So far I have seen nothing but praise for Riptide, Overgrowth is a pretty awful map, and while remixes have a bad rap this seems pretty good. Are you just raging pointlessly or do you have any specific and legitimate problems with the map, such as balance or a game breaking glitch.
Interesting read. Thanks for sharing. I learned a lot.
What exactly do you not like about the new arena map?
No, you can’t speak for the community. You can only speak for yourself. I personally like Overgrowth. I think it could use a couple of tweaks but nothing major. I have yet to play Riptide but I thought the flow from the livestream looked fine to me.

If you guys played the map you would understand that OP is one hundred percent correct. Most of the praise (although certainly not all) is directed towards the aesthetics of the map. Riptide is a beautiful map. That being said, it plays terribly just like Overgrowth. Too many power weapons (why is the sword still on overgrowth, it was a good start to remove shotgun but the sword is the real issue), too many hallways, and too few sightlines results in 2 maps that just play poorly.

Also I would like to quote Roy (top pro player) who just played Riptide for the first time on stream.
“This map is trash.” I trust a pros opinion to understand what makes a good map, and in this case Roy is absolutely right.
Riptide is a huge step-up from Overgrowth! I personally was extremely happily surprised about how well the map played, how it looked and how it had close and long range engagements.
The power weapons are appropriate too which is a step-up from Overgrowth as well.
Play few more matches that you actually win instead of losing so you get the right mind to judge the map.

Long range engagements? Where? Power weapons are appropriate? As in having the fuel rod, beam rifle, and hydra all on the same close-quarters map?
You can’t speak for the community. The community did not bestow that honor unto you.

From top middle to the Fuel rod spawn for example, Hydra is extremely easy to avoid which makes it pretty much a non-priority,
Beam Rifle is extremely hard to use on the map which makes every kill rightfully theirs and on top of that, its very easy to avoid as well thanks to some of the close-quarter parts of the map.
Fuel rod is the perfect power weapon in H5 and it fits pretty much any map, its slow, it can be dodged easily and you need a straight hit to kill someone with one hit.
My point is that even though there are loads of power weapon on Riptide, they have been well picked so the map creates a weakness for each of the weapons, unlike in Overgrowth where none of the weapons have any weaknesses due to the extremely small nature of the map

You are right. Only blind 343 d riders can speak for the community. I can’t believe people actually like Riptide and Overgrowth.
I have only played one game of slayer on the new map so far. I won. So I like it.
Also, I picked up the H2BR and killed people with it - good times!

By the way you’re speaking, no wonder you don’t like any of the maps, you seem to be just another blind 343 hater.
No offence of course.
I like overgrowth.

You know what? Have any opinion you want. You don’t even have to qualify it as an opinion if you can’t be bothered or if it’s beneath the dignity of your opinions to be identified as such. But please me by not making statements like, “I can speak for the community…” Don’t make them because you shouldn’t make them. You don’t speak for the community. You speak for yourself. Period.

Have you actually played a game in Riptide? I don’t see it in your recent game history.
I actually like both of them. When I heard it was a remix of fathom I was skeptical, but I think the map is seriously a good map!
Been playing 2 hours and haven’t seen riptide yet… I’m cursed
Seems like you’re just trying to be ‘cool’ by complaining about something new first. Nothing wrong with riptide at all.
