Another story regarding Elites

I remembered from way back when I was thinking about story ideas with my buddy regarding the Elites. I know that the Storm faction was confirmed by 343, but maybe this Storm faction could play along with the story I’m about to unfold right now.

Okay, here’s what I’m thinking. At the end of Halo 3, the Elites departed from Earth, Elites and Humans going their separate ways after the war. And from what I’ve heard, it’s kinda like civil war back on Sangheilios. Now here’s where the changing of sides comes into play. Thanks to the civil war, the Sangheili economy is in complete turmoil. Their government is crippled and gradually crumbling into nothing. Here’s where the Covenant come in. The new leaders of the Covenant consult with the Sangheilian government, saying they’ll provide them with economic support in exchange for returning to the alliance. Desperate for relief, the Sangheili governors agree to their terms and rejoin the Covenant.

This would be conflicting for the Arbiter, in that he is still friendly with the humans after fighting alongside with them for the last part of the Human-Covenant war, but he also cares for the security of his homeworld. So, he settles to the terms.

Now, you may ask yourself, "What about him returning to fight alongside the Chief in the next game. Well, here’s where it gets interesting. The Arbiter will make a return in the story. Now what I’m thinking, is that 343 does the double-sided campaign like Halo 2, where you play as Master Chief in some missions and the Arbiter in others. In this situation, you would actually get to fight humans and fight against the Marines. And at one point, during a mission, probably the last mission where you fight the humans, the Arbiter sees the Chief fighting with the Marines, and at that point, the mission would end with cutscene with him trying to make contact with the Chief.

When he finally does, the Chief retaliates, thinking he is now hostile, until the Arbiter tells him he just wants to negotiate, and thats where the explanation of the crippling Sangheili government comes in. This would be brought up to the UNSC, whatever role they play in this game, and the UNSC would soon agree to give economic aid to Sangheilios so the Elites don’t have to fight alongside the Covenant.

Let me know what you think. I think it would be a pretty interesting story to add into the new saga.

The whole economic thing wasn’t a huge deal with the Sangheili in Glasslands or Thursday War, so that angle is out. Nor is the Arbiter going to join the new Covenant since their leader, Jul 'Mdama, hates his guts.

See above.

The idea thus far really depends on what happens after Halo: Escalation. In it the Arbiter and a major Brute Chiedtian are going to meet and attempt to resolve their differences with the UNSC acting as support against a rogue Covenant force attempting to stop the meeting. And if the Arbiter is going to go against humanity, he has a valid reason which I explain below.

> When he finally does, the Chief retaliates, thinking he is now hostile, until the Arbiter tells him he just wants to negotiate, and thats where the explanation of the crippling Sangheili government comes in. Like I said above, their economy isn’t exactly a major factor. Also, you do know ONI would never allow a deal like this to occur because they are helping the civil war continue to destabilize the Sangheili with the goal of ultimately finishing the job, ie exterminating them, and recolonizing Sanghelios for human purposes.

Doesn’t exactly work.

There’s no Covenant left to give them economic support. High Charity, their center of government, religion, and manufacturing was destroyed in Halo 2/3. All that’s left is bits and pieces, ship/weapon/vehicle building yards on some planets are definitely left, mining colonies should still be fine, but with the Covenant dissolved all of that is up for grabs.

Well define who’s in this Covenant. This could take two roads, in my opinion. Those are…

  1. The rise of the new Covenant which has the mentality to redeem itself for its sins and take their approaches to a more pacific level, but still have a military to fight in the Haloverse’s current struggle.

  2. Being a really cheesy revamp for the human friendly Covenant.

As long as Prophets aren’t involved initially and maybe forgiven later, then I’m open to a similar idea that aligns with current canon more. However I agree with Cobra in the respect that only escalation can tell us what’s next.

Ah thank you for the input. My ordeal is that I didn’t read the books. Thanks for clarifying the situation.
