It will. And for those complaining, luckily there is a button you can avoid hitting if you don’t like sprint. Called the sprint button. If you don’t like it, don’t hit it.

So glad sprint is not going to feature in guardians

Lol
Yes, obviously that fixes everything.

Have you played the beta? Its clearly in H5 and as 343 said, 89% of the community want sprint. So it will be in H5 for sure. With on / off button like in Reach and H4.
I do not care for this thread as a whole, but I just wanted to say I am glad that someone is aware of the amount of these type of threads and put it in the title.
11% of the community all -Yoink- and whine about on the forums and want the game they want it to be. The 89% are the people who play the game and have fun with it, regardless of change. The 11%=85% are the super duper hardcore halo players that whine on the forums.

the real problem is those who don’t like sprint don’t like it because its harder to get the kill. it takes more skill and better accuracy and they don’t like that. to me that is what it boils down to. they don’t like the added challenge sprint adds to the game. I hope 343 keeps sprint. sprint is a natural ability that Spartans should be able to use. halo is supposed to be combat “evolved”… so you are telling me only being able to walk, jump and pull a trigger is “evolved”? I loved the way the Halo 5 beta played and despite all the issues with MCC I am looking forward to Halo 5.

You mean 89%.
What’s wrong with having an opinion of a game? What’s wrong with liking a game for x reasons and disliking it for y reasons?

So the players who play competitively and enjoy the rewards brought on by a high skill gap don’t like sprint because it increases the skill gap? That doesn’t make sense at all, dude. Your thesis needs work.

You can’t just use “evolved” to justify any and all elements of the gameplay. Each gameplay mechanic should be judged on its own merit, and sprint doesn’t bring anything positive to the game or work well with other mechanics in Halo. Further, I could say that because CoD and Halo 4 all had two movement speeds (sprint), the natural evolution is to simplify that down to one movement speed (no sprint). After all, Spartans ought to be able to move at sprint speed without forfeiting their ability to fire, and they should be able to fire with pinpoint accuracy without having to slow down (especially with smart-linked scopes).

I don’t understand how even the people who like to argue about sprint aren’t exhausted from arguing about sprint. I hope on the forums every now and then to see what cool threads might be up. Imagine my surprise when there isn’t a single “cool” thread, and it’s all just people whining about or defending sprint. Let it go already, please.

sprint doesn’t bring anything positive to the game… well that’s your opinion and your titled to it… I for love that it brings faster game play, and that is positive. being able to get around the maps at a faster rate than just “walking” is great… I think you need to work on what is opinion and what is fact… the fact is it is ALL a matter of opinion what sprint brings to halo. you either like it or don’t, and its ALL a matter of opinion on how sprint affects the game.
Let me just throw this out there real quick. I’m not pro-sprint, anti-sprint, pro-abilities, anti-abilities, pro-chinesefood, anti-chinesefood, or whatever the hell else people gripe about. I am pro-Halo.
Any and every turn that Halo makes, I will support it because I love this series. I grew up playing Halo, and I’m still following it because of it’s immensely deep and gripping story. Maybe one day the multiplayer will turn completely sour, maybe that day will be [insert launch day of Halo 5: Guardians here], but I’m still going to buy future Halo titles because of the campaign.

It doesn’t though. The time it takes to move from one end of Guardian to the other in Halo 3 without sprint is the same as the time it takes to move from one end of Haven to the other in Halo 4 with sprint. It doesn’t speed up the gameplay at all. In fact, it actually slows down the gameplay, particularly because in order to shoot (you know, what the gameplay revolves around), you have to slow down. Both practically and logically, forcing players to slow down in order to perform the primary actions of a game does not and cannot result in the gameplay being faster.

In such a way to get you right back into the action WITHOUT the need of a sprint button. Sprint and other defensive abilities slow the game down way more often than they speed it up. It’s all illusions and placebos.

It’s people like you who have made Halo go downhill, it has Halo on the cover, must be amazing, take my money. As much as we have fought over sprint there has yet to be a good response on why it should be in the game.

If you were on stage 3 and spawned at the beginning on Spire to get the falcon and a teammate takes off without you, you had a 45 second run before you were back on the battlefield! I like invasion so that was a big deal to me but for most game modes in 4 I could see how it was unneeded.
> >
> > How do you implement something in some playlists but not another? My answer is to nerf it Like they did. I didn’t even think that they needed to slow down top sprint speed after raising normal walking speed. My suggestion would have been to make it so that the weapon raises slower after coming out of sprint. That would really deter people from using it when they rush around a corner and cannot defend themselves.

The problem with the gun raising slowly is that it discourages sprint on maps that require it, along with separating movement and combat even more. It would turn the game even more into a twitch shooter as the person sprinting would be unable to do anything, and with the already fast kill times of Halo 5 it would make it even worse.
Halo’s combat was always about moving and shooting at the same time. Movement and combat were intimately connected. Sprint separates these two things, drastically changing the way that Halo is played. If we are to keep sprint then it would be a terrible idea to separate these things even more by putting a timer between the ability to fight and moving. If anything it should be instant. But obviously removing sprint entirely would be ideal.

you people that claim sprint isn’t faster than the walking speed make me laugh… what ever you have to tell yourself. sprinting is way faster than just walking in any halo. yes you cant shoot while sprinting… so what, you shouldn’t be able to imo. all sprinting does is allow you to get from point A to point B on a map faster. you are are diluted if you think the walking speed of any halo game is faster than sprinting.

Walking isn’t faster, but getting from point A to point b isn’t either. With sprint implemented they scaled up the maps 1.5-2 times what they used to be. At the same time they slowed down the base movement speed. Look at truth vs. midship. That map is ~2 times as big, and the sprint speed isn’t 2 times faster. You could get from one end to the other FASTER in Halo 2 than you could in the beta.
EDIT: Faster movement =/= faster gameplay. Without sprint you are able to react instantly while moving because movement and combat are directly connected. Instantly is much faster than the time that it take for you to stop, bring up your weapon, and then start fighting. Without sprint maps are smaller, you can get from point A to point B faster, while still keeping the ability to fight instantly. Smaller maps also allow for encounters to happen more often; speeding up gameplay. With sprint you get large maps, increased encounter range, running away, loss of map control, separation of movement and combat. All of those things slow down gameplay.

The higher the yes %, the less the population. Sad times.
After several years I have yet to see someone that isn’t god awful at halo support sprint.
