I am for sprint. it DOES speed up the game play. I loved the halo games of the past, halo 3 multiplayer probably my favorite. but i still prefer my halo with sprint. i don’t get why some are so stuck in the past.

In such a way to get you right back into the action WITHOUT the need of a sprint button. Sprint and other defensive abilities slow the game down way more often than they speed it up. It’s all illusions and placebos.

“It’s been proven” Link?
Isn’t Halo supposed to be about strategy? And sprint takes strategy. If you are losing a fight, you can just run away. Its another strategy to use-halo MLG is pretty much just about aiming. I watched the finals for Halo 4-it was all just who aimed better and had faster reflexes. If I want a game about reflexes, I will play COD.

That’s cuz you’re watching the finals lol. Pros aren’t gonna miss so of course it’s whoever see’s who first and who is more accurate. In Halo 1-3 if I was better than the average player, if i got shot i could kill them about half the time by dodging and shooting accurately. FPS aren’t going to be too strategical dude, try playing Starcraft 2 or something along those lines. Now those games are all about strategy!

so you are complaining that the player with the better aim with a weapon in a first person shooter won? SMH… seems like a legit complaint. I think you actually need more strategy with sprinting because players get around the map much faster, so yes you need more skill and strategy to get the power weapons and maintain map control.
Shouldn’t this be in Halo 5’s section?
I want a sprint toggle switch plain and simple in custom game type settings, and I want playlists to support some with sprint and some without. If this isn’t the best solution, then everyone who doesn’t think it is, is crazy, plain and simple.

That’s weird considering halo 3 has the best big team, but oh well.
Seriously guys lets drop this sprint crap… I would like to see a good forum rather than another sprint one. Lets move on this topic is overstayed its welcome.

I imagined a white guy in southern America in the 40’s:
Seriously guys lets drop this race crap… I would like to see a good forum rather than another race one. Lets move on this topic is overstayed its welcome.
Yeah-no. If people want something to change because they think it’s bad, they won’t stop until either it changes or they are no longer around to be involved. Either halo fans prefer sprint and others (most) don’t, or nothing gets changed, the ones who felt ignored because they didn’t do enough to make sprint balanced leave, and then halo 4 happens, and then all the sprint lovers stay, leaving only 8% of the fanbase around after 3 months.
Seriously. I don’t see why players go so ape over sprint. there has been a lot of changes to halo over the years. halo ce you could carry up to 8 grenades, the pistol was power full at seemingly any distance, you could drive a vehicle while carrying a flag, and you couldn’t boost in ghost just to name some off the top of my head. well they made changes to all that. halo 2 the rocket launcher could lock on and then that went away. to me the worse thing to ever grace halo was armor lock and when they dropped the skill based rank and matchmaking for that BS credit based crap.
Poll choices are unclear to me. Is “Yes”, as in, “Yes, I want to remove sprint”? Or “Yes”, as in, “Yes, I like sprint”?

Can you provide evidence for this specific claim? I’ve seen many people theorize this and, anecdotally, it’s spread like wildfire. I’ve yet to see anybody prove it to be a fact, myself. In fact, speaking from my own experience (since this is what everyone here likes to do), I will just say that even when I play Halo 4 without sprint, it feels like I’m moving fast enough. I remember playing Truth in the Halo 5: Guardians beta and specifically playing a match without any sprint, just to see. It felt normally-sized to me. It felt good. Then I went and I played a match on Midship in Halo 2 on The Master Chief Collection. The base movement speed relative to the map size felt very similar to me, discounting some fundamental differences in the map design necessitated by engine differences between the two games. If one is bigger than the other, it is not noticeably so, at least to me. I’ve yet to see anybody prove the opposite point of view with actual video evidence (which would be ideal).
I also just want to say that I would theorize that maps aren’t actually built under the assumption that players will be constantly sprinting around in them, like you just made it sound. I’m pretty sure spaces in the maps are probably rather designed around the base movements mechanics, with firefights taking place in those spaces in mind. If the developers are smart, they know that players are doing more than just sprinting in their maps.
This poll is dumb in my opinion and I don’t see anything wrong with sprint.
I think it’s a good idea to have one control available to us, just in case we need to move faster, like let’s just say you’re shields go down and you want to fall back to cover faster, or get across open space to reach a vehicle that you need?
I love the classic Halo games, I really do, but I’m able to move on as well when the franchise evolves, and I feel sorry for those who don’t have the ability to do that.

they cant and wont be able to prove it. this is just some thing cooked up by some one who doesn’t like sprint and all the sprint haters are going to latch on to it like a security blanket. there is no denying that sprint speeds up the game play over all. as I have been playing since halo 2 on xbox and I am one of the few that stuck it out in the halo 4 multiplayer as well. when mcc came out and I started playing some of the older halo’s again it is as plain as day that the older halo games play a lot slower even on the xbox one. If I took a Spartan from halo 4 with sprint and dropped him on a map like halo 3 sandtrap and started both Spartans at the same spot I bet I could get across the whole map with the halo 4 Spartan before the halo 3 Spartan could get half way probably. the same would be for any map on any halo. you are going to try to tell me the “walking” speed of halo 2 is faster than the sprint of halo 4? laughable… I understand why some don’t like sprint what I don’t understand is how they seem to think just because you can sprint now that some how no longer makes halo halo. its still 4 headshots to get the kill, I guess because now they have to be more accurate and faster they don’t like it.

“Evolves”? It isn’t evolution, just change. Evolution implies that it is a change that occurred due to natural selection, meaning said change helps something to survive. Sprinting has not helped Halo survive by any means. As a matter of fact it has done more than its part in putting nails in Halo’s coffin. Whether or not it is a good change is up to debate, however whether or not it could be described as evolution is a no brainer. I say we cut our losses and move forward without sprint. The new spartan abilities should be more than good enough to help mix up gameplay.

Whatever, deal with it. I simply used the word “evolution” as in the franchise gets better over time which is how it changes, sir. Therefore that word can have a ton of other meanings. Not just change from natural selection. But you are obviously too stuck in the past and think it’s necessary to shut me down with your “facts” I will not tolerate anyone doing that to me here.
Just make it so that when your shields break, you can’t sprint until they recharge. Easy fix!
As for map design, I don’t see why they can’t just build sprint’s movement to work with Halo style maps. Start with a map and then alter sprint to work properly with it.
Settle both sides. Make it an armor ability like in Reach.
The majority of Halo players dont want sprint. Especially people like me playing from day one of Halo 1. But this is 343 everybody, they will do the opposite of what customers want.
