also if we are bringing logic into the conversation you see master chief sprinting in the cut scenes so shouldn’t you be able to sprint while playing? that would be logical if you ask me.

Very true. Imagine him just walking slow during the cut scenes and trailers. lmao

I don’t see the problem really. there seems to be a Halo game type for all types of players. if they ever get MCC working 100% that is which I have a feeling they will one day.
The problem is that sprint is a -Yoink- sales gimmick that adds absolutely nothing to Halo. Look at “Glorious 150 FOV” on Youtube. You were always going fast on the previous Halos, the thing is that (You guessed it) the FOV made it look like it otherwise because you were never looking from the SPARTAN’s face, but through his chest (Look at the position weapons are in the Halo games, it never stroke you as weird?)
Also I want to point out that you are not innovating anything as you are just giving Halo the mechanics every single FPS under the sun, star and moon has.
Interesting comments, but remember [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-selection_bias
](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-selection_bias)But seriously though I don’t see the point in another Waypoint poll when we already have this.

its not about innovating. its about keeping up with the times and making your game play more realistic and modern. not being able to sprint feels old and slow now. sprinting brings a lot to halo. it makes it faster and makes a Spartan who is supposed to be super soldier feel like an actual super soldier. I am surprised people aren’t complaining about how they added the ability to boost in a ghost as well or how they changed the number of grenades you can carry. its just funny how ape some people are going over something as simple as sprint when there has been a lot of changes to halo.

I can’t believe that you admit to it being a placebo and that you know you actually are not getting into the action any faster and yet your reasons for wanting sprint are because it “feels” like I am getting into the action faster. It’s people like you who have made Halo go downhill, it has Halo on the cover, must be amazing, take my money. As much as we have fought over sprint there has yet to be a good response on why it should be in the game.
Landonio- your posts are awesome, these guys a stubborn morons that have no idea what they’re talking about and are also the guys that want all these gimmicks and then a few months after the release date stop playing Halo to go play the next “new” (which means recycled) fps game.
So i’m not sure if people are getting confused or I am, but sprint is not toggle-able except in customs. Nothing to do with matchmaking until they put in a “Classic” playlist.

zzzz boring reply there have been many reasons over multiple threads arguing for both sides constructively but each side ignores the other because there opinions differ. Halo needs sprint or it will die no question about it because with no sprint the game feels outdated people will play it for 5 minutes and move on because it feels antiquated. Nobody wants this 343 have found a very good solution for sprint and having an option to turn it off for customs and perhaps even MLG playlists later down the line depending on the trend is the best we could have hoped for. We need sprint or it is game over for Halo simple as that. Halo sure needs to keep it’s identity but remain modern and this is always going to be an issue.
So in conclusion we need to find solutions if we want our game to stay alive I think 343 have found the best middle ground going forward, I am more than happy with what we have after playing the beta and I look forward to a strong future with Halo at the forefront. However if you want Halo to die and fade away be my guest set up your own company and pretty much copy Halo remove sprint and see how you get on be my guest.

Sprint was unnecessary in halo 4 and the maps were to big not to have it so yes there is a fault there, but I thought sprint was very important for BTB game modes like dominion in 4 but mostly Invasion in Reach. If you were on stage 3 and spawned at the beginning on Spire to get the falcon and a teammate takes off without you, you had a 45 second run before you were back on the battlefield! I like invasion so that was a big deal to me but for most game modes in 4 I could see how it was unneeded.
How do you implement something in some playlists but not another? My answer is to nerf it Like they did. I didn’t even think that they needed to slow down top sprint speed after raising normal walking speed. My suggestion would have been to make it so that the weapon raises slower after coming out of sprint. That would really deter people from using it when they rush around a corner and cannot defend themselves.
Also T BO should get Evolve already…
What was Halos largest map? Avalanche or Sandtrap? I cant remember but those maps were huge and without sprint, were painful to walk around. H4 doesn’t have any maps anywhere near that large and still has sprint. Those those saying H4 had sprint because of larger maps does not seem like a valid argument. Walking around Avalanche was miserable.

Orb I like the gun raising slowly, kind of like how you said that clamber should be slower as well to try and keep skill jumps important both Ideas are good.
Also, evolve with only two people will not be that fun. The other two guys don’t play enough for me to want to get it.

Yeah, a lot of people said the same thing about loadouts in Halo 4, and that was obviously untrue. The Halo 5 beta had same starts and no one called it “old” because they couldn’t choose their starting weapon.
Sprint isn’t a modern standard. It is just a mechanic. People won’t play the game for three minutes, be like, “wtf no sprint?!” and then return the game. No one does that. If the game plays well without sprint, then people won’t care whether or not sprint is in the game. Games are judged on their merit and how “fun” they are, not whether or not they have some arbitrary mechanic in place.

Thank you for acknowledging my good ideas. I’m brilliant what can I say… but for reals the slowing of gun readiness after performing movement actions such as sprint and clamber would balance those abilities more than lowering the top speed of sprint. But I love that they announced that base movement speed is increased and they will figure out how to incorporate crouch jumping! My thought on the controls is that you have a hover ability so I think that the controls should be activate hover then melee to do the ground pound. That way crouch button is free whilst in mid air!
Also you should get it for nights like last night when we had 3 people we just needed you. Otherwise we can play Halo!

> zzzz boring reply there have been many reasons over multiple threads arguing for both sides constructively but each side ignores the other because there opinions differ.
>
I do believe the nerfing of sprint is nice, if they do what they are saying, and that it is really going to punish bad players for using it all the time. That being said there is no proof that a game without sprint will be unsuccessful, the last halo game to not have sprint was arguably the most popular fps of all time. Halo 4 had sprint, the population dropped 87% in six months, clearly that wasn’t the only reason, Halo 3 didn’t lose that percentage until four years after launch. Now don’t take that has I want a carbon copy of Halo 3 but to say a game will die in five minutes without sprint is simply not true nor has it been proven by any means. I just find it funny when people say I want to get into the action faster, when it takes the same amount of time in the old halos to get into the action because the maps were smaller. People never say what they actually like about sprint and what sprint is actually used for and that’s running away from battle.
> 2533274800685943;36:
> 11% people wanted sprint removed is probably a lie (It was most likely more) but they are not going to get rid of it because 3 of their new spartan abilities are based on it. No matter the poll numbers you take here, there will be sprint in Halo from now on. If you want a game without sprint then go play halo 2/3 or make a new IP yourself, developers should have the freedom to make the games that they want and they make the decisions. We Halo fans have a very boisterous community that demands -Yoink- all the time and I’m glad they don’t listen to 12 year old pieces of -Yoink- who think their opinion is better than the people who went to college to learn how to make games and for those of you who want a halo 3 rehash; just stop. This isn’t COD whether halo 3 was the best or not you have an opinion like everyone else but id rather you just keep playing Halo 3. Please don’t buy Halo 5. I especially don’t want you there.
>
> This beta that they held was a special thing. They presented their game and the community was able to say what they did or did not like and have a voice in some of the final changes. Notice however that nothing was taken out of the game. They only tweaked and balanced around what they had and what the community asked for. Do I think that Halo needs sprint? NO. But i’m over it, its going to be there and I think the balancing that they did will help. It doesn’t ruin that game it makes it different. We have to learn new strategies for a game we’ve been playing for years. I was pleasantly surprised that there was a learning curve in the beta, that I couldn’t just pick up the controller and start wrecking like in every other halo. I’m glad the game is evolving and if that still bothers you then go play the broken MCC. That’s why they made it; to give the “back in the day fans” -Yoink- to stop moaning about.
It is a lie. I don’t believe only 11% of people would want it removed. This poll was conducted by 343 according to OP which totally couldn’t have any biases. I wish we could see number of people voting for each choice instead of the percents in this poll.
343 attended college and all that jazz. So what? Halo 4 was an epic failure when it comes to how quickly it died. Seriously, just look at this. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=709697 Halo MCC still isn’t working after three months for many people. Don’t give me that junk, “well it works for me.” Yeah good, it works for you but still is unplayable for others. I felt like MCC was going to put us back on the map and now we have become one of the worst gaming launches in history. So should I have faith in 343? Those college degrees are impressive. How about you make a game that isn’t awful now? Trust me, I won’t buy H5. I will be trying to play H3 off MCC.
There was a learning curve? Go play the broken MCC? I wish I could play it, lol!

It doesn’t matter to me what the button for ground pound is, I will only use it as a way of pimping the last kill of a game or something to humiliate another player. I think it should be with the melee button though for sure.
Also, that’s sixty five bucks for a game to play maybe one night a week.
> 2533274800685943;56:
> the slowing of gun readiness after performing movement actions such as sprint and clamber would balance those abilities more than lowering the top speed of sprint.
If you think the problem with sprint is that it’s overpowered, then you really don’t understand the problem. If anything, sprint makes players underpowered. A player should be able to retain full mobility while in combat and retain full combat ability while moving, and sprint inherently prevents that. No amount of balancing, nerfing, or buffing will fix sprint. So in actuality, making the weapon slower to ready after leaving sprint would worsen the issue by further weakening players.
Disabling shield regeneration was not meant to combat these bigger issues with sprint or make it “less powerful”; it was only implemented to help alleviate a particular issue: players retreating without dying. Slower weapon readiness doesn’t fix anything in particular, so it would just make sprinting in Halo even more frustrating and for no good reason.
