Another preorder bonus question

So I just now realized that nearly all the Pre-order bonuses are skins, not armor. I was preordering from Walmart because I thought I was getting exclusive (or early) access to the Oceanic armor (my favorite, I love Bioshock).

But it appears I only unlock a skin for the Oceanic set. I have several questions about that.

Does redeeming my Walmart code instantly unlock the entire Oceanic set and allow me to use it at SR 1?

Or is Oceanic unlocked at a certain rank or unlocked with Spartan points, regardless of what I preorder?

Or is Oceanic available to everybody at SR-1 and just the skin is exclusive?

I was hoping to redeem my code as soon as I put my disk in the tray and then be able to use the Oceanic armor for my first match of war games.

Well alternate gun skins unlock the gun early, I’d expect the armor to work the same way.

You’ll get Oceanic just when you register the code for the skin.

Yeah, I’m guessing you’ll get the Oceanic skin set from launch, but you’ll have to unlock the normal Oceanic like everyone else.

Are you serious? Gun skin preorder bonuses unlock the gun early? Or was that a typo and you meant to say they didn’t?

  1. Does the bonus unlock the actual armor as well? I don’t care if I don’t unlock the “unskinned” Oceanic.

  2. Or do you still have to unlock the armor in order to even use the skin?

Was answered in the bulletin, those who get gun skins unlock that version of it the second they redeem it.

Most of the pre order weapons are unlocked by SR2 though, not exactly game breaking.

1 is the correct one. The same with weapons.

If you preorder weapon skins (e.g., Arctic BR from GameStop), will they unlock the weapon as soon as you redeem the code, or will you have to unlock the weapon before you get the weapon skin? - a zoojoo

You’ll get immediate access to that weapon (or armor for that matter) with that skin; you don’t have to rank up or spend Spartan Points. For weapons this is mostly a fairly small head start, since the skinned pre-order weapons are low in the ranks, but some of the armor skins will definitely give you earlier access to that type of armor

okay sweet. If I actually had to unlock the armor at a later Spartan Rank, I would have been frustrated and would probably have switched to GameStop for convienance sake

1, because they treat the skin of the armor different than the normal armor.
