Phil Spencer recently said “Halo will still be around in 10 years, no matter how Halo Infinite is received.” Does this worry some of yall?
People on twitter are saying he lacks confidence but I think he’s just being humble. Nobody knows how the success is going to turn out. Why give people false hope that the game will be “amazing” or “bad” if he knows it won’t be either? I think he is just trying to say he doesn’t know how good the success of the game will be but Halo will always sell no matter what.
Off topic but can someone tell me how to link stuff on mobile? Thanks!
I think it’s just him saying things. Phil Spencer is too smart to thinly say “I don’t think Infinite is good but we’ll release it anyways”
Confident in the game and developer but acknowledges that nothing can be all things to all people. Ultimately, Halo is larger than any one game. Large multigenerational entertainment franchises don’t rise or fall on the success or failure of any given game, movie or project. If you want to watch the original interview, I’ve linked the appropriate section.

I’ve listened to the full podcast that he was on and I think it’s important to take into consideration the context in which this was asked.
He was questioned if “the future of halo depends on infinite’s reception”.
He very clearly said that he doesn’t want to pressure a studio to feel as if this is a all or nothing game for the studios future, he’s said that about other studios too.
Its very much the case that Halo & Xbox are intertwined and he’s confident that Halo will always be around as lo as Xbox exists. He’s already said that Infinite is in a great place and that 343i & Xbox
are ready to launch the game this holiday and are just waiting to lock in a date.
I don’t think there is anything to worry about. I think reading too far into things causes fear mongering.
Phil is a smart guy and has changed the course of Xbox in a positive way since he took lead in early 2014.
I agree with the Don and that Phil is way to smart to say anything that can come back to bite him like “oh but phil said this game was totally ready and going to be the greatest thing since sliced bread” nah phil is too smart so he will stay humble and say the game is in a good place and ready to launch this fall and let the players decide if they like it or not. Everyone is different and some people who are hyped about it won’t like it and some that were indifferent may love it. Just hopefully the majority love it because I would love to see 1Mil player count online at the same time like it hit in Halo 3.
Given how the question was asked, I don’t think he could have answered in any other way to be honest.
Did people expect him to say “We will stop supporting Halo if Infinite isn’t perfect”?
