Another Month With No Series X News?

I thought I read somewhere that each month Xbox would host an event for the Series X, but I guess I was mistaken. 4 months left in the year, and the next generation of consoles have little to nothing known about them. We have no price point, release date, Series S confirmation, or pre orders. I know MS is tip toeing around Sony and trying to beat them in any way they can, but come on the consumers are getting really frustrated. If MS doesn’t control the flow of information, then rumors and speculation will. Most of Infinite’s news this year has been steadily leaked by toys, and now the Series S is seemingly confirmed by a next gen controller packaging. If the Series S does get a full showcase this year will anyone really be excited/surprised?

Maybe in the end this will all be one big joke getting annoyed like this, but I can’t help but feel that the thunder of all of MS announcements is being stolen. Each passing day it’s harder to keep this information held back. Retailers want to sell their products, websites keep accidentally leaking details, and insiders are popping up left and right saying whatever they want and people will gobble it up, because we have nothing else to go on.

Still a week left in the month, Xbox can still announce something.

I expect right now they are working supply issues to make sure there is going to be enough product for release. I was working retail and we were told that the supply chains have had a domino effect on production and it’s going to be at its worst for supply during the holidays. Do your Christmas shopping now is my recommendation.

Xbox and PlayStation are being really stingey with news about their consoles. Both are set to release this year and we still don’t even know what the price is.
One of them needs to cut their losses and announce everything first. Its getting ridiculous and I don’t see how anyone can undercut the other for more than $50. Just let us know already!

You’re not mistaken. They announced “Xbox 2020” or something like that which originally was supposed to be a string of news every month until release. They already dropped it and seems like they’re basically going to get announcements out when they can. There supposedly was going to be more news this month but it got pushed back to next month. Good ol’ covid pushing everything back like usual. I’m sure Infinite’s delay put a wrench in their marketing plan too.

I thought so.

I do want say that I sympathize with everyone impacted by covid. MS and Sony are adamant that covid has not impacted console production, but I can’t help but feel they are only playing face. Maybe production isn’t impacted, but it sure as hell seems like everything else about these consoles is impacted.

The official release month for the console also seems like it was a blunder when announced. In a statement regarding Infinite’s delay, it was mentioned that the Series X will still launch in November. The wording they used made it seem like November as the launch window was already announced (which it wasn’t, and judging from every previous Xbox console it was an easy guess), and now all these game announcements now awkwardly say launching in November with Series X. Check this tweet out from the Yakuza devs. Releasing on Xbox One on 11/13 and launching for Series X in November. I’m pretty sure the devs have a good idea of the Series X release date, but that information is most likely embargoed by MS. We are getting so close, that I won’t be surprised if the official date gets leaked through an accidental announcement from a developer.

Yeah devs who are launching with the console definitely know when the release date is, I bet the big publishers know too even if they don’t have a launch game. I’m really hoping early next month we get an exact release date and price, then pre-orders go up. I wanna secure my machine already, only 2 months before the thing comes out.

Can’t wait for Holiday 2020. No Halo Infinite this year bums me out, but hopefully we get some good Series X news soon.
