Another Controversy of Halo 4

Ladies and Gentlemen, I welcome you to another controversy thread of Halo 4

Today we will be discussing the issue known as quit bans.

First off for those of you who lack common sense,

Quit Ban: A ban put on quitters that can last for about 15 minutes but might last longer(Unknown time; I am using Reach’s quit ban time)

Let’s talk about the pros and cons of quit bans

Pros

> Quitters will be banned from the game and you will usually have a full team the entire game.
>
> People will actually be forced to stay and play 343i’s sh–…

In any case, let’s look at the cons of the Quit Ban.

Cons

> Quitters will probably quit the game destroying the population of Halo even more
>
> Quit ban is truly annoying and at the same time isn’t a sutible punishment for quitters.
>
> Making all of matchmaking support this is truly absurd and should create as said by numerous players a RANKED and SOCIAL playlist and then you can decide whether or not to have the ban on Ranked playlists.

The quit ban adds more evidence at how incompetent 343i’s multiplayer team is when managing matchmaking especially when you can join in session. I’m sorry 343i but I will be as blunt as I can be because sweet talking does nothing.

If anything you should be focusing on fixing the gameplay balances to the game so that way you won’t see people quitting all the time by the Boltshot or DMR team camping at the pelican in Ragnarok.

What do you think? Do you think the quit ban is absurd or necessary?

I think the quiters are the ones damaging H4’s population. I’ve gone into 3 or 4 games in a row where a few people have quit out and completely ruined the match. essentially wasting an hour of my time. Something needs to be done to stop the quiters. In some game types when you have players of nearly equal skill, being a man down is nearly a guaranteed loss.

Maybe banning isn’t the answer, but SOMETHING needs to be done.

How many times do you have to quit to get banned?

Haha, you want to deter the quitters?

Fix the gameplay reasons people quit.

Here’s an idea. If you don’t like the game and are just going to quit out of a match and ruin the match for everyone else, how about you just not play the game at all? Save yourself and everyone else some time.

Besides, by this logic, a ban should be welcome for these kinds of quiters since it makes it so they no longer have to play a game they don’t like.

Quit ban is awesome. I wish it was a little more strict, but it’s a nice start.

FYI, the quit ban is currently a 60 minute time out from matchmaking.

Make every single DNF in social games a loss, regardless of reason they quit/dashboarded/disconnected as well as a eventual quit ban.

Make every single DNF in ranked playlists (if such ever exist) count as 2 losses, regardless of reason and implement an even stricter quit ban with minimum of 1 hour bans for excessive quits.

I bet that curbs the quitting a bit. People need to play the darn game and quit being babies about possibly losing or not getting “their” sniper or playing on the “wrong” map.

I like playing Halo a lot. I’ve played since Halo 2 and have played every title online. I’m only going to quit if i’m forced to play Complex.

You want to vote for that map? I’ll waste your time then. It’s called karma. Better than wasting my own time on that godforsaken design.

I’m curious as to know how the quit ban works.

I’ve quit games before too but usually due to severe lag or when the game keeps going to the “waiting to start game” screen several times during a match. It doesn’t happen often and I think I’ve done it about 15 times in over 400 matches but, I would be upset if I get banned for doing this.

It is total BS that they have a quit ban and JIP.

Quit bans aren’t really a good punishment, especially with JIP. There are honestly times were you lose connection (those of us with horrible connections/internet providers/whatever know what I’m talking about) and times were you have to quit because something came up (an emergency, etc).

Quit bans also contradict that ERSB rating. It’s basically giving people, at least those of us who can actually legally play M rated games, a childish timeout.

I ussualy play matches where the rest of my team leaves and i get to fight 4 people. Ussualy happens on complex, so i get to camo camp with the sword until someone joins. Yesterday i was left in a 1v8 match on Exile. I will just say that was too much and i gave the other team a free victory.
Its annoying when people leave during the voting and the system doesnt care about the player number. For example, BTIS with 16 players. 4 people from the former blue team left the game during the voting, the system starts the game as a 4v8 instead as a 6v6.

> I wouldn’t quit so much if people were not so simple minded that they like to play the same map OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN. Quit bans are stupid.

Is there a quit ban in Halo 4? I’ve never encountered it…

Honestly, I quit all the time in Halo 4. Why? Because there’s no reason not to.

With so many people supporting Join in Progress (still a stupid thing to have in any Halo game), there should be no one complaining about quitters, since apparently Join in Progress eliminates those quitters that occurred so commonly in the previous Halos (I rarely encountered quitters…).

So no, I don’t believe there should be a quit ban in Halo 4. In Reach? Yes. In 4? No.

JiP, if it works correctly, should replace the quitters quickly. If it doesn’t, it doesn’t work properly and should be removed from Halo 4 altogether.

It’s simple, really. I don’t understand why 343i doesn’t realize this (and that goes for other things, like the Kill Cam that fails 99% of the time).

I was ok with the idea of quit ban in Reach because unlike Halo 3 there was zero punishment for quitting, so I guess they had to do something. But with JIP there should be no need for a quit ban, and it’s absolutely ridiculous they have it in Halo 4.

Of course, with JIP so flawed all this tells me is they are using quit bans to take heat off their flawed system by trying to reduce the amount of times the game has to resort to it.

If I get a quit ban message I’ll just pop in blops. Not out of spite but bc I’ll have nothing better to do. Other players will do the same, maybe not with cod but with other games. If 343i is ok with this then they have their priorities backwards imo.
