Now, I understand the move to an online presence for XBox as they tried doing this from day 1 with the XB One and since it did not work then, why not try it this way. Feels possible this could be part one of the MS way to force people online. Then again, maybe not. If not, then I hope they read and really consider what folks are saying regarding the tradition of split screen. I say tradition as I am sure it was for quite a few people, myself included. I played every game in the series multiple times in co-op split screen with my nephew. This has made for some very nice memories and is one of the main reasons my nephew and I are both huge Xbox fans. There was never a PS3 in either of our homes, but now… I went out and got a PS4 after the no split screen announcement. Not only is MS killing an awesome feature in Halo but I am afraid they will do the same for Gears of War. If so, this may spell the end of the family fun system that they created with the XBox 360. When trying to get people to plays games together, this method of online only is really just driving the social aspect of life further from our lives. What really set the 360 apart from the PS3 was the 2 great games I have mentioned and the split screen play that came with both. Now, at least in my mind, the XBone is just another gaming system. Absolutely nothing special about it.
I lose respect for anyone who calls the Xbox One the XBone.
But on topic, the lack of split screen now solves the problem of people screen peeking during matches.

Not only that but it also solves the guest problem as well.
No more having half of a team quit at once. That annoyed me a lot before.
Not saying no split-screen is good, since I feel tad bit bad that lone “Machinima” producers and campaign nuts won’t have it.
There’s a splitscreen mega-thread kicking around already. You’re free to use that to discuss the issue.
