I am hoping that it is maybe the Flood using the Spirit of Fire to make a return, but that is probably unlikely.
I do think it has to do with the official description for Halo 5 Guardians though. 
It can’t be something as small as a ship, otherwise it wouldn’t have been noticed. Same with the Forerunner bird construct (unless there are many of them, of course).
There is another thread that gave me an idea… Star roads, maybe? Pretty gigantic. I don’t actually think it’s that. But it’s definitely something big, or strange, otherwise I don’t know why it would affect space so much. Last time I heard something like that, it was when the Halos went through slipspace in the Forerunner Saga.

I was so just contemplating this right now lol only two things I could think of
But it’s growing stronger? Is it growing as in life form? Is it growing by stealing energy some how? WHAT IS THIS ANOMOLY???

What if he found something like X50 where it was an artificial satellite used to build and destroy planets?
I believe it is something Forerunner in essence… it could in-fact be that with the return of the Forerunners, a small section of the Maginot Line has been re-activated by the Didact who is planning his next move, in the Reclaimer-Forerunner War?

The Maginot Line was breached by the Flood, however, essentially Jat-Krula still exists. Each Line Installation is a part of the whole, some remain active and some remain dormant… creating possible pockets of Line defenses.
I dunno man, I’m pretty sure it’s ancient Flood. “it’s getting stronger…”, perhaps it is getting stronger because it is Flood growing in biomass? And Fero says we all may be about to die and sounds pretty certain of that. I don’t think she would be that scared of Forerunners. If we are all assuming Fero is Halsey (let’s be real now, she’s the most likely candidate) she would not be so scared of Forerunners after her contat with the Librarian. She also knew the Librarian wanted her to have the Janus key because something was coming… And what are the Forerunners scared of? The Flood. Even if Halsey isn’t Fero, I don’t know why they would be absolutely in terror if they either had an idea it was Forerunner or had no idea in general.
I believe after the Forerunners reseeded the galaxy, they probably left defense systems. Now this is all theory. but those defense systems are “Guardians”, which are most likely those giant bird robots. The Forerunners knew the Flood come from beyond the Milky Way and knew it would come back since the Halo Array only cleanses our galaxy. The bird in the Halo Xbox One commercial seemed Forerunner in nature to me. And it is probably awakening because it detects that the Flood is coming. Or maybe Master Chief goes AWOL to activate them. Who knows.
I’ve been thinking. If it’s messing with slipspace, could it be precursors from beyond the galaxy and their star roads?
Maybe some secondary fail safe mechanism that renders slipspace unusable? If they couldn’t kill the flood then maybe they wanted to at least stop its spread long enough to A. Find a cure, B. Let life flourish in areas unaffected by Flood, without FTL speeds it would take millions of years for flood to travel the Galaxy.

I’ve been away for a while, so my apologies, but can someone link me to these “Anomalies”? I’m rather curious.
For sake of a new idea how about… Mendicant Bias. He didn’t atone, he changed his mind. He’s angry, he’s corrupted, and he’s messing with things in deep space.
A little more realistic now, can anyone think of any recent activity that was labeled occurring “in deep space”? Where did Guilty Spark and the Rubicon blast off to?
Nevermind, found it. Yeah, I have no clue what it’s going to be, but I doubt it’s going to be the Precursors. Too early. Humanity doesn’t stand a chance.
In the Forerunner Saga similar anomalies were measured when the rings and shield worlds were being distributed throughout the galaxy, so it has to be something really really big. Who knows maybe it could have something to do with the Precursor aka The Timeless One.
