While Anniversary’s “silver” fun skulls are well done (Grunt Birthday Party will work with a headshot from any weapon as long as it’s the killing shot, Pinata can be useful for grenade piles, Bandanna makes the plasma pistol the most powerful weapon in the game since you can kill everything with the overcharged bolt from some distance, Grunt Funeral is ingenious!), most of the new “gold” difficulty skulls are absurd.
Malfunction would be better as an option; like we can choose which hud elements to get rid of. It’s good for turning on and off a hud element but it’s random effect means I have to die again and again until I get the result I want. It seems biased towards either the shield or the motion sensor…
Recession should only affect Covie weapons, or more preferably, only battery weapons. The Needler becomes like the Reach needler when it’s under the effect. I can understand the rocket launcher and even the sniper rifle but a pistol with 6 rounds and an AR with 30? If I wanted H3, I’d be playing it right now.
Boom should be customizable: increase radius of melees, explosives, or both? Likewise, Eye Patch:
*remove autoaim for human weapons, Covie weapons, snipers and pistols, or all?
*remove autoaim when unscoped, scoped, or at all times?
Foreign is the worst skull I have ever seen. Absolutely pointless. Rules can be made for runs that forbid the use of Covie weapons. Achievements could forbid plasma weapons. Tactics (noob combo) could easily be limited. And most importantly, all this can be done at the player’s discretion.
And I’d hate to throw Mythic in here, but the skull has always driven me nuts. I can understand 2x shield, but 2x health is just going to make headshots the only effective means of killing an enemy. If I wanted to play H2, H3, or Reach, I’d be playing them right now.
The skulls should be properly enhancing CE’s gameplay, not trying to make it like the other Halos to appeal to those players.
