I know that I’m a little late to the party, but I was trying to do some anniversary achievements and I’ve noticed an unfortunate problem: the playlists required to do the achievements no longer exist. I know that 343i is extremely busy with all of their future products, but I think the achievement hunters out there would appreciate it if 343 would give Halo reach an update so that the achievements are do-able. As just a suggestion, it might be prudent to make them unlockable in custom games. At any rate, I would really appreciate it if 343i could tell me if I’m asking for the impossible here as well. If it’s not gonna happen, just reply to this saying so. Better to hear it now then just check the forum waiting for an update that will never come. All I want to do is 100% this phenomenal game.
Tbh i think the maps are available but only in the relavent playlist.
An example of this would be the anniversary infection achievement. The map is available in the infection playlist however everyone in that particular game must have the correct dlc for the map/maps to appear.
Ive been trying to 100% this game myself as i want to put it to bed before the MCC on XBONE arrives in November. Unfortunately there are more than a handful of players in the same boat, and I am in the process of sending friend requests to as many people who have all the dlc for halo reach as possible so I/we can set up games with a higher chance of the dlc map coming around.
I will gladly assist you in helping you gain the achievements you need because, to be honest I still need a dozen achievements spread across all the dlc myself.
If you wish to send me a friend request my GT is thegodlyone01.
And if you choose not to send a friend request then I bid you good luck in your quest. You may well need a lot of it
The achievements are possible, you just need to own a copy of Halo: Reach to get them.

Check out the playlists there and you can see what maps and gametypes are available in each one.

The only problem with that method is that, and this is only an estimate that only 15% of all the active gamers on Halo Reach multiplayer matchmaking have the dlc.
It would be better to update the current playlist to add a dlc playlist for all dlc map packs. One for Noble, Defiant and anniversary. Although anniversary is there it would be nice to see some BTB variants.
Cant say that it is much to ask as all the loyal and supportive gamers out there would probably welcome such a move by 343i/bungie. (I honestly dont know who runs the servers for reach nowadays. When I originally got the game it was bungie but halo 4 was done by 343i). I know I would, and at least I and many other players wouldnt have to wait weeks or months for the right game on the right map to appear as a voting option.
Honestly how hard can it be, and how is it, if a new gamer wanted to attempt this game now, chances are he/she wouldnt bother at all because about 8 - 10 of the achievements, under the matchmaking conditions/playlists we currently have would be damn near impossible to get. It feels like it to me. And many other gamers may feel like that too.

There was a DLC playlist while Reach was still the current game and it was removed because it literally never got 150+ players. It was on probation for months and it always stayed low on the list, if not the lowest.
August 2012’s update consolidated the playlists so matchmaking times would be faster. Adding in a DLC playlist is a step backwards.
All due respect, but adding the playlists back would certainly not be a step backwards. When a product is fixed so that it works effectively and efficiently as it should, one can never consider that a step backwards. People still want to get these achievements and should be able to without having to wait months for people with the right maps and to vote for the right game type. The achievements might be “possible” but they certainly aren’t probable. Players skill should determine the achievements they receive, not a companies decisions on matchmaking policies.
So 343? Any chance of you altering the playlists so that the achievements are probable? Wanna gimme some feedback?
They aren’t going to add playlists back, sorry.
Thanks, I appreciate the feedback. Guess I shouldn’t be surprised though given how 343 has dealt with the Halo 4 achievment issues. If they won’t fix that I don’t know why I thought they’d fix this. Thanks for giving me a heads up though.
I had the same issue as 343i does not do as good of a job with the playlists where achievements are concerned as Bungie did. I was able to get all the anniversary achievements but it would have been better to have a playlist that was anniversary maps only. They should not make achievements requiring to be done a DLC map if they don’t offer a DLC only playlist.

It’s pointless bashing 343 for this, since the achievements were created by Bungie before 343 took over. If you want to blame anyone for making achievements map specific in Halo Reach, blame Bungie and not 343.
I would agree except for the fact that 343 actually did create the achievements when they released the anniversary playlists. Back when Reach servers were under Bungie, the achievements were do-able.
Apparently a lot has happened since my return to Reach. So there is literally no playlists at all your saying? Or just the DLC playlists are gone?

Thank you for your reply; this was clearly a good reason to remove the DLC playlist back in August 2012. I admit that even I didn’t care at the time; I thought I was done with Reach for good.
However, I find myself wanting to get back into it as of late, but every time I log on to Reach (or even just think about logging on), I get really frustrated that I can’t play some of the best maps in the game.
Many current playlists sit well below 150 players all the time, surely you can see that the August 2012 data is dated at this point and doesn’t adequately reflect the sentiments of players today.
I detailed more of my thoughts on this matter in a topic last week (sorry, I missed this thread at the time).
This bothers me very much. It could take days of nothing BUT Anniversary to finally stumble across an Infection game, let alone have everyone vote for it. Some of the Defiant achievements were attainable via Custom Games, but that was because of a glitch during a title update. 343 hasn’t been very good with making stuff like this possible. Even in Halo 4. Playlists for Regicide, Dominion, etc. were taken off because of the relatively low population all-around. They still left the commendations up for winning that gametype or performing a feat/earning a medal in that gametype. This is now almost impossible because it takes forever to stumble over a Regicide game ANYWHERE (popular in Team Objective, but it’s still rare there, even so). And most people would rather vote for CTF or King of the Hill over that, anyway. The only exception I can make is Dominion Light. It comes up rather frequently and people vote for it often. But my main point is that 343 needs to go back to Reach and edit the criteria for these achievements and either:
A: Make them attainable in any relative playlist (ex. Anniversary Infection in Living Dead) or even in Custom Games (putting them in Matchmaking would be better, because then you’ll just have a bunch of boosters not earning them legitimately).
B: Replace the old playlists and put playlists up specific to the achievement(s) criteria.
C: Make rare sub-playlists (Anniversary Infection, Stockpile, etc.) more common in their parent playlist.
From what I understand, for a company that created a masterpiece known as Halo 4, this should be simple coding.
And yes, I’m writing this over a year after the thread was posted.

Ok, I did some research and here’s what I found:
1:
LIVING DEAD
MAX PARTY SIZE: 12
MAX LOCAL PLAYERS: 4
Game Types
INFECTION, ALPHA ZOMBIES, ZOMBIE GHOSTS
Maps
ANCHOR 9, SOLITARY, PENANCE, BREAKNECK, CONDEMNED, UPLINK, ASYLUM, UNCAGED, REFLECTION, COUNTDOWN, BOARDWALK, POWERHOUSE, ARENA ZEALOT, BEDLAM, UNCONGEALED, PANDEMIC, COUNT D-HOUEN, DEADWALK, POWERLESS, SPOOKY BASE, PARASITIC
(Courtesy of haloreachstats.halowaypoint.com)
2:
Anniversary Map Pack Contents:
-Battle Canyon
-Penance
-High Noon
-Ridgeline
-Solitary
-Breakneck-Installation 04 (Firefight exclusive)
If you weren’t able to draw a connection already, then here.
If there was a separate playlist for Anniversary Infection, it’s gone now. But the original Living Dead includes Penance, Solitary, and Breakneck as playable maps. The entire server needs to have the Anniversary Map Pack (a good handful of people still play the Anniversary-designated playlists, so I bet even more have the DLC but don’t play the playlists). The achievements are most likely attainable only on these maps. If you are skilled enough at Infection already, then cross your fingers that you can either infect 3 people as a zombie (in one round) or become the Last Man Standing. But don’t worry, if you spend time looking for them, then you’ll probably play enough games to become skilled enough to take your chances.
It also supports the Defiant Map “Condemned” and the Noble Map “Anchor 9”. So all Infection achievements based on DLC are “possible”, but that doesn’t mean “easy”.
I feel bad for you guys that don’t have as much a chance to get achievements as those of us that played it in its prime. But hang in there! It took me almost three years to get Running the Show on Halo Wars but it was worth it!
343 isn’t busy there not much different then activision there full on selfish, greedy overpriced season dlcs/season passes they clearly used the halo reach dlcs as let’s screw everyone over if you want to play these maps either vote or do custom game is 343’s message they’ve turned halo into crap especially the remasters all those original sandy buildings turned into grey with 343 design it’s 343 were trying to mark there territory they have no respect for bungie by changing these things there purely a crap company just like activision.
I’m going to cry
