Anniversary Magnum = Destroyer of Nations

Anyone noticed how the Anniversary Classic pistol seems to be far more powerful than the CE magnum ever was? I know alot of people may think otherwise due to reticle bloom and shortened clip, but I have pullen off far more 3 shot kills with it than I ever did in CE. In CE there was never a guarantee that it would happen, but here, I somehow just know how to aim in order to get the 3 shot. Can’t explain it, but 3 shotting someone is almost a skill that I have now. Anyone notice this?

It’s a mix of hitscan, movement acceleration, and Reach having a totally -Yoink- selection of weapons.

No, this one’s not nearly as good in my experience.

More aim-assist, hitscan and achingly slow player movement (even with Anniversary’s improvements) make it easier.

Jump height and gravity is also a joke.

It’s a give and take. For one, the Anniv. Magnum doesn’t have the same range that the original had, so long cross-map kills are less likely. At medium to close range, the weapon is more practical. Not to mention the Anniv. Magnum is hitscan at the desired range.

The Anniversary settings aren’t an exact recreation of the CE experience. Jumping, strafing, etc.

Even though the bloom is supposed to replicate the original’s autofire bloom, it doesn’t contract fast enough that pacing works as desired. Also, the clip size and ammo reserve doesn’t match. I have to reload a lot, and if I don’t actively pick up ammo, the weapon runs out quickly. There aren’t a lot of pistol pickups on the maps either.

The Anniv. Pistol is better than the Reach pistol (except for ZB, it rocks at close range!), but is about half of what the original pistol was. The ZB 4-shot DMR behaves much more in line with the original pistol, save hitscan.

I love the Pistol in Anniversary Classic its my favourite game type now

no. the pistol in CE is infinitely better. the pistol in CE actually hits things when you aim on target. the reach pistol? aim flawlessly, and shoot one bullet every TEN SECONDS and you will STILL MISS due to the absurd amount of random spread the pistol has.

Hitscan. Your reticle is red, your enemy dead.
