After releasing Halo Wars DE on steam, the absolute silence about the subject with preorderers of HW2UE about getting it on steam is genuinely annoying. They split what little of the community was left between the W10 store and Steam editions, make the game unable to play between people on PC’s because of the store difference and then cant be bothered answering whether or not people who supported there game to begin with will get a key to play with where the majority of the community is obviously going, or atleast make it bloody compatible. Its infuriating.
Yea they have split the potential player count in half because they don’t know whether or not to release on Steam and their Windows Store. Releasing it on Steam was a good move but for the people that have bought it on the Windows Store have now been screwed over.
I’ve already contacted support about this issue. Basically you will not be getting a code for steam. Xbox play anywhere means xbox one and windows 10 NOT PC. They essentially treat the steam version as an entirely separate game that they have absolutely no control over. They say it is literally impossible for them to generate steam keys for the game, and it is literally impossible to provide cross platform play. The steam version uses steam servers and the windows 10 version uses the developer’s servers. Why we can’t play with console users wasn’t answered. There was also no explanation why the steam version doesn’t use the same servers in the first place. I’m sorry to say it but don’t hold your breath because all you’re going to get a big old “Go -Yoink- yourself”.

do you really need an official answer for why that wouldn’t be a good thing?
or why that would be a thing at all? as it is, only something like two games allow for cross platform play.
one is gears 4, and the other is FF15 on PS4.
