Anders vs Brute Tournament

Foreword

I will arrange a high-level Anders vs Brute tournament for 4 participants: 2 four each team. The tournament will last at most 2 weeks. Participants are already selected.

I appreciate everyone who has been interested to participate. I hope I have not offended any of you with my selections. Your willingness to participate to this tournament will be noted when I arrange future tournaments.

Every Anders player will face every Brute player once on every map (DLC NOT included since not all the players have DLC maps). Maps will be played in alphabetical order.

Each player will play 5 x 4 = 20 games. It will take about 3 hours to play.

Schedule

Tournament lasts from 2012-05-20 to 2012-06-03. After that the prizes are dealt.

It is up to the players to agree of the playing dates and times. If the players cannot agree then I will decide the playing dates and times.

Prizes

For each win : 300 MS points

For winner team : 1200 MS points (600 MS points for each member)
For loser team : 400 MS points (200 MS points for each member)

For each commented game video : 200 MS points (max 8 videos is revarted)

The winner team is decided by the total wins count of the team members. If there is a tie between wins then both teams will receive 800 MS points (400 MS points for each player of the team).

Prizes will be delivered after the tournament is finished or canceled.

Exceptions

If one or more players do leave the tournament before it ends:

  • leaving players do not get any prizes
  • other players will recieve prizes for their wins
  • other players will recieve prizes for their commented videos
  • no prizes for the winning or the losing team is given

Judging

I - sadstone - will be the judge of the tournament. (I hope this is not necessary)

Reporting of the results

Game stats links from the www.halowars.com are sufficient evidences of the results. If the players disagree of the result then - without further proofs like game vids or photos - the result is void.

Cool idea! Awesome that you are willing to put such effort into the game.

Maybe you could add some kind of “recording duty”, just in case the participants dont want to record the games or something. I see the point with the MS points, however, they dont make sure that we get the recordings at the end of the day (and I want them! :D).

For the open issues, guess a screenshot is enough to justify ones victory (even if its just a photo taken of the screen).

Hope you actually find enough players willing to participate!

No can do. BoZzo II has not played at all with DLC maps. It would not be fair for him to take those in. Mighty Icy has DLC maps but removed them long ago. I did not knew this.

Anyway, seems that first games are played. I hope players to write short descriptions about the games to this thread.

I thought the BC’s would chicken out, just like them ppl who deleted the CoD 4 maps. Stupid TS gardening tools, these maps are well made imo, I’d rather lose a few games here 'n there than having no diversity …

I believe Barrens and Blood River are the two most unbalanced maps in Anders vs Brute matches. Barrens favors Anders because:

  • 2 x forerunner reactor (easy to get gauss etc)
  • long distances are ideal for fast hogs
  • many base sites to take to double pump hogs

Blood River is good for Brute because:

  • 2 x forerunner supply hook located near to each other (Brute Chieftain can defend both of them)

Anyway, first 5 games are played. bb2010 vs BoZzo II played first round on every map. It went 4-1. BoZzo II won on Release. bb2010 on Blood Gulch, Chasms, Pirth Outskirts and Tundra.

conclusion : release is a brute map , like we all knew :slight_smile:

There is still 7 x Anders vs Brute games coming up on that map. Wild Arms FX and bb2010 have very different strategies on that map against Brute. Let’s see which one has the better strategy or do they lose that map 0-8. O.o

bb2010 and BoZzo II played the rest of the games against each other. bb2010 won those 5-0, making it 9-1 against BoZzo II. O.o
