anders vs brute ( blood river)

so i wanna talk about this game

basically i went barracks first and made an extra hog. Collected supplies with the hogs and made 2 marines. I sent the first marine to his hook and the second marine to my own. In the mean time I camp his lift with 2/3 hogs to make sure he couldnt get it with a brute squad, i rammed the first brute and I had both the supply hooks. I kept on camping his lift as long as I could (he went hall 4th) because the longer I hold both the hooks the bigger my lead will be. Everytime he came back with his chieftain I left and I came back with my hogs when he went away. I made another marine put it in the reactor and clicked grenadier quick. So with still having both hooks I attacked his base with some grenadier , took it down halfway (it was still a keep) but was forced to leave because he recalled. He then made 2 turrets and had enough jackals + chieftain to get his own hook. I made a couple of flamers and we kept on exchanging hooks. But eventually he had both because of his chieftain+jackals > flamers+ grenadier.

From this point on it was a loss basically , because i couldt harras his base ( 2 turrets) Couldnt get my own hook ( his chieftain was there) and I couldnt get his hook ( he had some wraiths over there) So I decided to tech up to gauss and make hornets aswell and then finally take him out of 1 hook. we had some epic head to head battles but eventually I decided to go to this base because his army was just getting to big and I had to do something. Big mistake cause he had 4 turrets and was waiting with his units in front of my base to make it a base trade. he recalled when my base was half health and he won.

soo what could i have done better  ? or is brute just > anders on that map?

long -Yoink- story bro

well I don’t have the dlc maps; but everyone I know that has them says brute>anders on that map. now it sounds like you did really well to begin with, maybe you could have d-bombed when he recalled, but you didn’t tell me how many hogs you had at that point and I’m guessing not enough. I don’t play anders or brute, so maybe you could have switched to hornets earlier or something.

but as you, and everyone I know said, brute>anders on that map.

It is very bad match up for Anders. See http://halo.xbox.com/Forums/yaf_postst59892_Anders-vs-Chieftain-on-Blood-River.aspx . There is some high level players giving some hints for Anders.

yes i think it would have been better if i used a d-bomb right there but i wasnt sure if I would be able to kill the base before the dbmomb would be over and i didnt exactly knew if he had any hunters (cause he had a hall) locked in his base. So I didnt take the risk. Looking back it would have been better if i did drop the dbomb

looking on wild arms post on that topic, i should have picked up waaay more resources on the map. I was too focused on getting both the supply hooks and camping his lift instead of picking up supplies with some of the hogs.

It’s a bad matchup for anders, because the brute can take his hook, then vortex you out of yours. If you got both hooks, you should be able to win easily.
I start the same way you do, barracks first and 2 extra hogs to collect money, then camp/scout. I make marines until I have my hook and both sniper towers (about 4), then spam flamers and go barracks 5th to double pump. If you camp his jackals and hold off the chieftain, go get your reactor real quick for gunner and flashbang, then build a reactor on your base (either with fortress or deleting a barracks if you have to.) for t2 upgrades. from there you should be able to overpower him with grenadier and napalm and get either his supply or reactor hook. Go wherever his chieftain isn’t, or use a dbomb, just don’t charge into an upgraded vortex.

lol. if you really had his base at 1/2 health and it was a keep and you had grenadier? answer is ez… These options start at the highlighted part above. easy win at that point really…

option 1: D-bomnb base when chieftan recalls and finish it off… you can kite a chieftan for the time it would take to kill it… or take out 3+ supply pads and maybe even temple if you didnt think you could get the base. chief in a d-bomb could not stop even 5 grenadier hogs from doing this… This would cripple him too much…GG

option 2: this is taking into account that you ran, when he recalled. as soon as he is at the hook, send all you grenadier to his base and d-bomb one side. try to cover the recall pad so he cant even recall but more importantly, cover one whole side of the base. Quickly focus the turret and kill it. then repeat option 1. if it was still a keep and at half health, kill it before the d-bomb dies. if not, kill half the pads on the base. it would cripple him too much and GG

You had the game in the bag. you blew it ----____----
