The Hydra!!!
according to the poll conducted by 343i from the bulliten, there was contest to see what power weapon ( the rocket launcher or the hydra) would appear in the first week of the beta. In a near landslide of the votes, The Hydra won by a 76% majority. So that means that it will be the featured weapon on the maps available to the first week of the beta.
Guess you you call it the benefit of the new weapon or the popularity after the dislike of the rocket launchers’ new look (I personally don’t mind), but we shall see how it will play out. I have a opinion on how it will do on the 2 maps that we get to play.
Empire: an interesting idea. This weapon is probably likely to spawn in the center of the map or it will rotate the Sniper weapon placement. It could a nice change of pace as many of the battles I observe often happened around the edges of the map and not too much happens in the middle or buildings.
Truth: may not be as effective. The more open nature of the map combined with the long site lines and tight close quarters means that this weapon will often get you taking a lot of fire or dying from the normal weapons. To make matters worse, a speedster with the prohpets Bane will be a more then a match in terms of efficiently and killing power and will likely run circles around the hydra welder.
