Happy birthday Halo 4! After twelve long months, you’ve finally achieved something that only every video game that’s ever been made has: turned one year old! Hurray! And we can still find you on store shelves! Amazing!

Those aren’t the only triumphs from the past several months of your life, however. I won’t bother to list all the rest - your devoted audience already knows you so well - but I don’t think a few highlights would go amiss, would they? Then let us begin!

Remember when your File Share system didn’t work until three months after launch? Your step brothers Halo 3 and Reach didn’t have this problem, but then again, their mother did have many other children before them, so let’s just chalk it up to inexperience.

How about that time 343i accidentally released the Crimson Map Pack for free, then tried to make it look like they did it on purpose because of a two-week program that didn’t exist until after they’d already admitted their mistake? That was fun, huh?

Oh, what about the time 343i held off on releasing an update that would allow them to tweak weapon behavior without the need for future title updates, just so they could hold a sponsored launch event for said update with Halo community leaders they flew out to Washington? Good times.

Need I even mention the slew of missing features you had at launch and, for the most part, still have now? Nah, you’re right: there’s no need to brag.

Looking back over the events of the past year, it’s truly difficult for me to see why only 5% of the friends you had when you were brought into this world still play with you. I mean, the first 200k only played with you until their real friend - Black Ops 2 - showed up, but the other 180k? No idea.

On that note, I believe a round of applause is in order. Let’s hear it for Halo 4!

This thread… ive seen it before, oh yeah iv’e seen it OVER 9000! times on a daily basis on the forums, yes I agree with you but do we need to keep beating a dead horse? its not like, well you know every single issue pointed here has been discussed since day one to death…

What a lovely sentiment.

Enjoy the large number of thanks you will undoubtedly get for the “originality” of pooping on 343’s meager parade via satire-flame.

I mean, it’s not every day your videogame turns a year old. What’s wrong with celebrating the good? Why does everything need to become an excuse to bash?

Frankly, I don’t care if you want to bash the game. I bash it almost daily. I encourage people to bash the game.

But when you do it like this, you’re basically bashing the developers for wanting to take some pride in their work. And bashing the game is very different from bashing the developers.

I’m hinting some passive aggressiveness

You know what? I couldn’t agree more. Halo 4, in my honest opinion, has lost my interest. I couldn’t care less if it has turned one year old today. If 343 has to keep picking up the pieces with crappy playlists like the annoying birthday special, that is all the more reason for me to stop playing it for the simple fact that it is a Halo game.

I will still play it, but I won’t treat it like a Halo game anymore. Instead, I intend to treat it like any of the other copy/paste First Person Shooters out there.

Happy birthday, Halo 4. I won’t miss you. Before you fanboys jump on the the flaming bandwagon, you might as well save yourself the trouble it as that is my opinion on this matter and it isn’t changing anytime soon.

Im sensing some sarcasm.

> Im sensing some sarcasm.

I hope so.

congratulations for being the most original guy number 1…2…3…

ah forget it, i lost the count of how many people have say the same stuff over and over again

okay, nothing new to do here

The Thought Police will find him soon…

You’re absolutely right, and that’s why I jumped at the opportunity to bash it. I honestly don’t see the point in celebrating the birthday of a Halo game that was developed by a studio created by one of the largest corporations in the world specifically for the purpose of making Halo games, especially if that studio’s debut title was released in the state Halo 4 was. What is there to celebrate? That it came out? Big whoop; better games come out every week, and if 343i hadn’t made Halo 4, another developer would have. That it sold well? It’s a Halo game, of course it was going to sell. Seriously, what is there to celebrate about Halo 4 being one year old?

Why stick to bashing a lackluster game when there’s a studio responsible for its initial and continuing level of quality? When said studio has had its head in the clouds for the past year, acted like everything’s okay, that players will totally stick around for an update to their game that takes three or four or six months to be released, why not bash them? Halo 4 may have a good deal of problems, but they didn’t come from nowhere.

I’m not saying it’s wrong to voice an opinion, but the manner in which you do it is crude, disrespectful, immature, and an obvious attempt to get some laughs with a pathetic attempt at obvious sarcasm. If you don’t like a game, why post stuff on its forums? Just go to the dusty Halo 3 threads and cheer there where about 24 people will hear you.

I myself don’t see it as wrong. We have a lot of issues that haven’t been fixed yet, problems we keep voicing and voicing. We have a low population, little patience, and we are angry and displeased and disappointing.

Don’t say it takes time because Bungie snapped to it, why can’t 343i? They had time to make Halo 4’s B-day why not put that time to fixing the armor and weapon problems of the Champions DLC for SpOps? Or why not allow US to make better maps like in Halo 3 and Reach?

And it’s alright that you feel that way, I respect your opinion. But at least you aren’t ranting and flaming about it.
Bungie actually had lots of spare time to work on their updates and such, 343 is being pushed by moneysoft to hurry up with Halo 5. According to them H5 was started even before 4 released. I don’t blame 343 for taking so long.
But it doesn’t matter: I like Halo 4 and will defend it, you don’t like it and will attack it. That’s it. People disagree on things, no need to start an argument over it. Besides, you seem like a cool guy, Ima send you a buddy request.

“Inside every cynical person, there is a disappointed idealist.”

Subtle bashing is some of the worst you can get, but it is only marginlly worse than any other kind, especially when you bash on it simply because it is different, not the same as it’s predecessor.

> According to them H5 was started even before 4 released. I don’t blame 343 for taking so long.

I was under the impression that that’s the what developers do. Halo 4 finished development on September 26–what were they supposed to do for the next month and a half if not working on Halo 5?

Glad you accept the opinion. I feel that the community is just angry and disappointing. We don’t care about their internal problems, just what we can see. What we can see is Halo with problems.

For example: Their B-day for halo 4. THAT was spare time they could have used. Majority hated it, spent the entire day playing the game-type and listening to people bashing the color scheme, spartan height, and why didn’t they do something better.

My problem is that removed Dominon, a game type needed to unlock the Commando armor and needed for some completion progress, which I am no so close to getting done at all since it’s removal. They put it on a rotational playlist? Why? I need it, people need it. Sure we can get another variation of Commando but I want that one.

They should have left it alone. Now what they can do to shut us up is start up some contest for Forged maps by the community for the community. Rather than do it one by one. Make some forge dominion, CTF, BTB whatever. Throw some race game types around. Let us go crazy with our imaginations, we’re an untapped source of fun. Let us distract ourselves.

“Thought Police” you say?

Such a thing does not exist on Waypoint. Just because you come into conflict with a system doesn’t make the system corrupt. If your post gets edited for flaming it’s no one’s fault but your own.

True as that may be what if the Topic is all flamers? Now we’re all flamming. Though I find it funny how I was banned from posting temporarily when I never even knew about it. I got the warning, got the notice, but was never on for it. I reviewed my posts, looked over the topics I had posted on and came to one final conclusion. I hurt their girl parts. I wont apologize, I wont shed a tear because it’s done. I’m still the angry, disappointed me I was a month ago.
