What do you think this ancient threat is? It could be a rewrite of the history in halo where the human and forerunner war happened. So it could be the forerunners.
I personally think it will be the precursors but we will have to see
who knows maybe it will be something else entirely

I think that the ancient enemies are forerunners.
After reading Primordium I think it could be precursors or something created by them.
In seriousness, i think it’s Forerunner. Maybe not the Didact but the Master Builder himself.

The Master Builder is supposedly dead by the end of Cryptum. The Ancient Evil is the Last Precursor.

The Timeless One? Didact killed him in Primordium IIRC. Accelerated its aging till it died.
