So resently 343 are showing us that alians aren’t the only threat anymore with oni being a bunch of turds and the insurrection returning under the NCA many people have been speculating that we might be fighting humans as early as halo 5. But in my opinion ONI and the NCA are are rather boring enemies because you will just be fighting marines or marine like enemies thare will just be to much BIP BIP BAMBing. So what other humans could we fight, this is pure speculation but is it possible a number of ancient humans survived the human-forerunner war and the halo firing?, and is it possible they’re returning?. They are said to be alot stronger and alot smarter than an average human so they would be alot more in testing to fight. That got me thinking about the Didacts last words in halo 4 “the reclamation has begun, and we are hopeless to stop it” maybe the Didact was building a huge army of prometheans out of earth’s population to prepare for something we know the flood isn’t in the game and precursors are way to OP so who else. It also explains why Master chief is activating guardians. I personally would love to fight another branch of humanity, a reason for them being hostile towords the UNSC is that they could see modern humanity as abominations because our genetics have bean manipulated by forerunners, thare ancient enemy. 343 did say there is going to be no flood but a few surprises in this game
so what are your thoughts?
um. Modern humanity as a whole are ancient humans. The forerunners were very thorough with our de-evolution.
So it’s more likely Precursors.
Not bad.

Well modern humanity are devolved versions of ancient humans modern humans will probably evolve back into ancient humans eventually. I’m talking about ancient humans that managed to escape the forerunner-human war and where never devolved that also managed to survive the halo fireing. It’s a long shot but the flood aren’t comeing back and i don’t see how 343 can implement a giant sea scorpion god into the game.

Forgive me if I make this theory completely wrong or illogical but shouldn’t humanity be more evolved 500 years later compare to back then? Not a giant leap of evolution in humanity but clearly a better shape of the human body than us now.
I also realized, my theory has nothing to do with your discussion…oops.
Why would ancient humans eve want to fight us? We’re both humans…
Doubtful, the Librarian left Geas implanted in modern humans so that they could eventually catch up at some point. Forerunner tech and the wars waged against other aliens have definitely helped modern humans speed up the evolution process. I suspect, from a lore perspective, modern humans are not too far from Technological Tier 1, which is where Ancient Humans and Forerunners were.

Maybe they have their probably smarter and physically I haven’t seen any out of shape humans in halo lol
I’m pretty sure by saying that aliens aren’t the only threat, 343i was just pointing towards the rivalry between Blue Team and Osiris. Either that or insurrection. Whatever it is, ancient humanity is probably the least likely option.

Resources, religion, superiority complex, etc… The usual things humans fight about.

Case in point, WWII, the Crusades, etc

Real life humans are at Tech Tier 4, Halo Humans are at Tech Tier 3 (but rapidly approaching TT2), Covenant/Sangheili and the Ancient Humans are/were at Tech Tier 2, Forerunners were Tech Tier 1, and Precursors were Tech Tier 0.
Tier 4: putting someone in space
Tier 3: achieving Slipspace capability
Tier 2: Unknown
Tier 1: Unknown, theorized to be achieving unlimited lifetime
Tier 0: Achieving travel between galaxies
I think this is where 343i kind of screwed up lore-wise, although Bungie probably had a hand in laying the foundation. All of this intimate detail and rich backstory takes away the mystery and wonder of the Forerunners and the events in the past which led to the construction of the Halo arrays, etc… I’d rather have it be left to my imagination.

I think ancient humans where tier 1 they nearly won a war with the forunners while fighting the flood remember

Nearly won? LOL they held out for a long time but in a war of attrition the Forerunners would always win, they had more planets more territory more population more ships more everything. The ancient humans, while on the upper end of TT2, were not yet close to TT1. And they didn’t really fight the flood. As soon as the flood were detected on a planet the evac’d everyone they could then glassed it from orbit. These tactics were so effective that the Flood just gave up and decided to retreat for a while, lick their wounds, and then come back in a thousand years. The reason they won against the forerunners is because the forerunners treated the flood as a war, not as a disease. Instead of annihilating the flood from orbit they landed troops on the planet to fight it. Terrible idea.
I don’t know about fighting them, but I’d like for there to be a point where some main characters at least get to interact with them. Obviously the ancient human would have to be composed and in an AI form, but it would be cool to have that interaction. I’d say that it would be cool if one of the Ancient human warriors was one of the Promethean Knights, but I don’t actually think any of the composed humans that fought the Didact ended up becoming Knights. If I remember correctly, the first human knights were from the Halos. And I don’t think the Didact would’ve gotten a hold of any of the original human warriors that were composed to turn them into Knights.
But following that train of thought about Knights and humans, I’d love to meet a “sane” Knight at some point. As we know, composition is far from perfect, and the AIs eventually descend into some broken mental state. I always assumed that this was to be the explanation for the Promethean Knight’s strange animal-like behavior. Very unlike a proud Forerunner Warrior. But 343 guilty spark never really ran into this issue, as he was relatively fine for many, many years. So I think it would be cool to encounter a more “normal” Knight. One that could speak normally, so that the whole point of them being composed beings would drive home a little harder than how they are presented in H4. I wish that just in general there was some way to make it feel more like I was killing composed beings than just another Forerunner construct. I know they have the whole thing with the Skull inside, which is a nice touch, but I feel like they need a little more. And besides, it’s always a forerunner skull, even though they aren’t all forerunners. Would be cool if some of the Knights had human skulls inside, while maybe the higher ranking ones had the Forerunner skulls. It’s little things like that that make all the difference.
In the art of Halo 4, they show a concept of a Knight dying. You see the human “soul” float out of the body as it disintegrates. I think that would’ve been a really nice touch.

The Covenant are Tier 2, so the Ancient Humans were certainly Tier 1 as they’re SIGNIFICANTLY above the Covenant in every possible way. The lower end of it in all likelihood, but still Tier 1. They were capable of fighting a prolonged war with the Forerunners. They developed weapons that the Didact’s forces had no defense against. Their empire spanned at least 20,000 worlds. They had life-spans in the range of 1,000 years. They could toss out tens of thousands of ships in defense of a SINGLE PLANET. They sacrificed two thirds of their population to the flood and could still defend their capital for 50 years despite being cut off from reinforcements. Hell, the Forerunners believed that the reason the Flood got the better of them is because Ancient Humanity weakened them to such an extent.
The Forerunners would not have that much trouble with a Tier 2 Species.

Tier 1 or 2 is the ability to create Worlds. not sure though

I clearly have been out-Lore’d. I shall submit to your superior Lore mastery. I was only going off what I knew, which was that ancient humans had glassing beams so I thought TT2. Submitting to superior Lore mastery. /(-_-)/

Exactly. Humanity was defeated by the Forerunners and had out evolutionary track reversed to controllable levels. Humanity essentially had to evolve to where we are today, leaving us less advanced than we used to be. The only “ancient humans” we will be fighting are in the form of composed peoples.
