Ancient Humans/Flood/Forerunners

Now, I have yet to read the forerunner saga books so I apologize for the lack of knowledge of this, but could someone tell me why the humans didn’t tell the Forerunners the answer to defeat the flood? Was it out of spite and anger after their empire had fallen?

Yeah, basically it was done out of spite, although there never really was a cure.

Weren’t they at least fairly close to finding something though? Not a cure like a “Inject this and you go from parasite to human again”, but more of something like what Johnson has/had that kept the Flood supercells from being useful?

No, the Flood purposely stopped infecting humans so that the Forerunners would think that they found a cure (and thus spare them).
