Ancient humanity

How expansive was the ancient human empire? I know that they were roughly a little more than a tier two civ. And were ultimately responsible for the creation of the flood along with the forerunner…but how far did their reach stretch, how many worlds did they claim?

First; not responsible for the creation of the Flood, they simply found the powder that would become it. Second, they were second in power only to the Forerunners. The war between them lasted well over a century, possibly longer. We dont know how many worlds they controlled but it was a hell of a lot.

1 I am well aware of the forerunner being the dominant race during this time as not only a tier one civ. But as the keepers of the mantle. And yes even farther back were responsible for the precursor’ downfall that lead to the powders creation from the precursor them selves as a defence against the forerunner.
How ever the creation of the flood from the powder was in fact humanity’s doing, how ever unintentional.
2 the war between humanity and the forerunner lasted for over a millennia according to the librarian in H4.
3 my question is more of is there a record of how vast the empire was?

Theres no official record. We just know it was big.

Thank you…I wonder if there are any forerunner records that would shed some light on it…as meticulous as the librarian was, she would no doubt keep such a record some where…

Probably are, we just haven’t found them yet in canon. Assuming they survived the activation of the Array and the destruction and later reconstruction of the domain of course

Would be a shame to loose information like that, wouldn’t it…

Halo is generally pretty vague as to the size of space empires.

Guys, the answer was given to us in the Forerunner trilogy. And from no less then Forthencho himself.

For these dreams spoke of leave-taking and farewell, of the last night before a grand battle that would spread across a hundred thousand light-years to determine the fate of a thousand suns and twenty thousand worlds.”

Mind you, I had to skim through the ENTIRE trilogy again to find that snippet but I guess it was worth it.

Thank you for telling him that, that triggered me a little bit!

Ancient Humanity’s empire encompassed at least 20,000 worlds in a thousand star systems across the Milky Way Galaxy; whether this is before or after they lost a third of their colonies to the Flood is unknown. Also they were a Tier 1 civilization as evidenced by their ability to fight both the Flood and the Forerunners in a simultaneous war for 1,000 years give or take and were fighting the Flood for at least a couple of centuries before that.
