I was doing some wikipedia on halo4 especially on the prometheans, that being said.
I was reading about the cryptum, (the flying forerunner ball deal in the e3 trailer) and its actually a sealed capsule where a high ranking warrior servant would self-impose himself after getting caught doing something bad, yanno like a punishment, a very extreme punishment. It involves a state of meditative hibernation known as “timeless xankara”. During this time, the Forerunner would become unaware of the physical world around him, and could remain in a state of suspended animation for thousands of years.
“While the Cryptum preserved the consciousness of the Forerunner inside for an indefinite period, the Forerunner’s physical body would still deteriorate, albeit at a significantly reduced rate. The body of the Forerunner would shrivel and lose most of its fluids, in a process similar to mummification. Once the Forerunner was removed from the Cryptum, the body would be placed in a restorative bath, and the body’s supply of electrolytes, nutrients and other essential substances was thereby replenished. The body’s muscle structure would then be regenerated, a process requiring several days.”
The current Forerunner Promethean inside of that cryptum is The Didact, a member of a veryyyy powerful promethean class. Was apart of the Forerunner-flood war.
Now my opinion on this, and i know there is more to read but i am tired haha but I think this guy is gonna be the main threat in this one…
Notice how at the end of the trailer it has that weird looking symbol in the back which i though was just a simple grenade symbol or something… but what that is is The Didact symbol. And that is most likely him at the end of the trailer saying “I have long dreamt of this day reclaimer” which makes sense since hes been stuck in that cryptum for thousands of years.

Didn’t the Didact activate one of the Halos and kill all of the Forerunners along with everything else that wasn’t indexed or otherwise sheltered on the Ark or in shield worlds?
There are two Didect’s. It’s quite easy to understand it was probably the Bornstellar Didect that sacrificed himself to activate the Halos, while the original Ur-Didect survived on Requiem.
My theory rests on the Ur-Didect being imprisoned on Requiem after being ‘changed’ by the Flood infection he suffers in the third Forerunner novel.

The Ur-Didact was the one who suffered an unknown fate at the hands of the Master Builder, correct?

He was put back into power after the events of Charum Hakkor. He was to testify against Faber with Bornstellar but was unable due to being called upon elsewhere. He was in power during the Trial, just not present.

Didact… how does he become infected? How, when the third novel “Silentium” is not released yet.
