I’ve heard it’s the Forerunners, can anyone confirm this?
I honestly think it will either be the Prescurors or Ancient humans or both. I think the Didact will be an ally.

The canon geniuses over at the Halo Universe Forums have a whole lot of theories on this subject.
It’s really amazing what they can come up with.
There has been no word on what it is.

I think they’re more than 1000 XD
lol I know right, aahhhh the mysteries of the Halo universe are amazing. I have never been so excited for a game… well since the last Halo game haha I remember when Halo 2 was coming out (it came out on a Tuesday here in the U.S.) and people were calling it Halo Twosday lol super epic man
I personally think…
It’ll be the Master Builder.
A lot of people are thinking Precursor.
The Didact is being tamed by the Librarian, according to Chakas. So, unless the Librarian dies/goes nuts, we’re fine there. Forerunners should be wiped out entirely. Prometheans are only around because they’re not organic…
I don’t know much about the Precursors or what reasons people come up with, but after brief research, it seems easy that they could be the evil, even though they don’t seem they’d be evil according to what I’ve read. They could have avoided the Halo array’s range if they still live.
All in all, IDK.
Hmmm we fought againts the Forerunner and their toaster of death long ago… So it is indeed an Ancient Enemy.

not quite he is no threat anymore. he was exiled and striped of everything and thrown on installation 07 which he is presumed dead.
How it cant be a precursor is that at the end of the game play for e3 The voice at the end which is most likely the ancient enemy says “I have long dreampt of this day reclaimer” The word reclaimer really separates the them as an ancient enemy. and If the precursor(s) were our enemy we would have no hope of survival.
This is why The didact would be the enemy in halo 4. it all adds up, an army of prometheans, a cryptum, a forerunner shield world, not to mention the didacts symbol.
There are 2 Didacts, Bornsteller Didact and the Ur-Didact. The glyph of the ancient enemy is too similar for it not to be one of the Didacts. Also considering the Ur-Didact is in trapped in a flood infested system I am going to say its him.
Also in the description for Silentium apparently the Flood allied themselves with something when attacking the Forerunners.
Maybe it’ll be the Master Chef! Get it, master chef, because chief may be a chef.
How did the forrunners go extincted anyway. did somthing kill them all??

We know it’s not the Didact. Frankie confirmed that the Ancient Evil was not revealed when the Didact went public. And the Master Builder is stripped of what exactly? The Forerunners are dead and his fate is mysterious enough to permit speculation on his survival. All he needs to do is exist to be a threat. He’s a Forerunner.

It was there intention to save themselves in the Shield Worlds but when Mendicant Bias and a massive Flood army invaded and assaulted their lines they had no choice. The activation of the Halo Rings was premature but there was nothing they could do.

Pretty much covers it ^ Equally, unless things change drastically in Silentium (which we won’t find out about til January anyway) The Didact (Both forms of) seem incredibly dedicated to this “Mantle” the forerunners follow, so I think the Didact trying to go all murderous and such could be a bit off… Where as the Master Builder was seemingly a bit of a maniac.

That makes more sense to me now. but they never got to the worlds. I cant wait to Face the Promethean’s. Bit more of a challenge then just the covenant.
I got to thinking Cuoldnt the ancient evil be Somthing the forunners built then locked away because it was evil.
