Ancient Enemy/Evil?

Before I begin, if you haven’t seen Halo Anniversary’s Terminals, watch them here.

here

At 25:19, Guility Spark calls the Flood the Ancient Enemy

343i’s tagline is “An Ancient Evil Awakens”

I know 343i has said you won’t be fighting flood, but do you think there’s a correlation?

it’s very confusing given the small tease info we’ve been given

Spark mentioned one time the Ancient Enemy was the Flood

but another time Spark mentioned the Ancient Enemy is the Didact/Prometheans

then Primordium makes it sound like Precursors are the Ancient Enemy

I’m so confused as to which it is. Didact/Prometheans seem more likely sense in Halo 4 there’s Promethean Vision. but then again, Precursors would make more sense since they’re very ancient and unlike anything MC would have faced before. Flood doesn’t make the most sense. though I do hope we fight the Flood sometime in Halo 4, I miss them.

I can’t wait to find out who this enemy is…343 has made this a very confusing challenge to figure out…

He’s possibly referring to the humans as the ancient enemy.

The Flood wasn’t originally from our galaxy, which is explained in Cryptum. At the moment the only guesses I have at Halo 4’s new enemy is that it’s either going to be whatever sent the Flood into our galaxy to begin with, the Precursors, or an unknown species kept on the shield world Requiem.

Well we do have a few options, some more likely than others. The Forerunners may seem likely at first, but when you really review the information we have, they fall apart. Yes they did fight a war with humanity over 100,000 years ago, approximately 10,000 years before the Forerunners fight the Flood. Yet consider this, the United States fought Germany twice, does that make Germany the US’ enemy? No.

Furthermore, the Didact, the Forerunners’ military leader, deeply regretted what he had to do when the war ended and felt pity at what humanity had before in the years after. That was the old Didact, the new Didact, aka Bornsteller Makes Eternal Lasting, actually has two close human acquaintances, Chakas and Riser, and expressed joy at finding them alive aboard Installation 07. Not to mention the wife of the Didact, the Librarian, deeply loves humanity as a race and did everything she could to preserve them.

The result? Well, humans aren’t constantly called “Reclaimers” for nothing. You could argue it’s a rouge Forerunner group, but why attack humans now? Why not the 100,000+ years humans evolved? Such a scenario would be forced and pretty stupid if you’ll pardon my French.

Now the Precursors, THEY do present a tangible threat. After all, it was the Timeless One, aka the Primordial, that said humanity would be tested by the Flood after it had matured. Fact is, the Flood the UNSC faced is nothing compared to what the Precursors have in mind.

So really, the Precursors have threatened humanity, the Forerunners…not so much.

No, no, the Ancient Evil is that last Grunt on the level Halo in Halo 3.

I hope 343 was lying about the Flood to make them a bigger surprise, I want to fight them again!

I haven’t read the novels yet though I intend to so I found the terminals confusing to say the least (favourite one was terminal on Two Betrayals though… Always wanted to see Halo fire hehe)

If I’m not mistaken, the terminal on Truth and Reconciliation shows an inquisition by spark with some kind of construct… What I remember is the construct had a plan, possibly something to do with unleashing the flood and wiping out organic life to achieve some unknown goal? Really puzzled there…

There are several things which have been referred to a things along the lines of “Ancient Enemy” throughout the series. Who it is depends on the ones saying it.

For example. The Ancient Enemies of the Forerunners could refer to;
Humans, San 'Shyuum, Flood, Precursors.

For example. The Ancient Enemies of the Humans could refer to;
Forerunners, Flood, Precursors.

There are many other combinations as well.

All I know is when they had that concept art trailer thingy back in 2011 they showed some kind of enemy looking thing at the end.

> No, no, the Ancient Evil is that last Grunt on the level Halo in Halo 3.

Of course it all makes sense now.

Precursors seem like the most likely candidate.

now this pic has precursor written all over it

In the terminals Guilty Spark mentions the Didact/Promethean,I’m pretty sure he says Didact but anyway, then says if the humans might see them he might actually perfer the Flood. :0 I think that’s a hint seeing How Frankie said there would be no Flood

343 Guilty Spark was upset that his ring was under siege and nobody was obeying his orders and protocols, I wouldn’t take it seriously. If Chief was really going to fight the Didact and his warriors, Halo 4 woudl be over in a heartbeat. They have better armor, weapons and combat skills.

Besides, the books don’t paint the Didact as a human hating psychopath.

Leaked Halo 4 Enemy

Oh, right spoilers

supporting your theory. the pic in my post matches the size of a precursor as seen in the books and on halo pedia. The link is a article about precursors but the pic in my last post seems almost like a sarcophagus that a precursor would be in. now the hint that it couldnt be the didact or a promethean is that in halo cryptum it described a cryptum as about 11 feet tall but the sarcophgus that is seen is about 49-50 feet tall matching the height of a precursor. not to mention it is not covenant nor human but some how fits the forerunner tech that was handed down from the precursors
