343i need not to focus on catering to individual players specific needs but to focus on an update that would be good for Reach as a whole.
My Reach update Wishlist
-
Create a 4-player firefight playlist with regular firefight settings and NO ARCADE GAMETYPES.
-
Apply TU to all playlists. Rename any gametype with the ‘TU prefix’ to its standard one. Eg. TU Slayer -> Slayer.
-
Remove Super Slayer because Team Slayer would be title updated.
-
Add Squad Slayer Back in.
-Take out all maps from Invasion that is not Spire, Boneyard, Breakpoint, Hemorrhage, and Paradiso.
-Add Highlands, Breakneck, and Ridgeline to Invasion.
To add the new firefight playlist remove one or more of any of these playlists:
- Remove ZB Slayer as a playlist.
- Remove Firefight Doubles.
- Remove Score Attack.
The majority of people who wanted vanilla reach to continue to be an option did not like TU mostly because of how terrible bleedthrough was. Now that it is removed it would be better to update Team Slayer with the TU. With this change we can remove the TU prefix from gametypes to lesson confusion.
A regular 4 player firefight option is more important now then it ever has been based on the knowledge of firefight not being in Halo 4.
With these updates I would be happy. :<D
Remove Doubles and score attack FF? How am I supposed to avoid the the randies that show up AFC in four man FF? The majority of weeks, especially when the weekly challenge is this week’s challenge, we see a constant string of AFC players in FF. The best way to avoid it is to get a friend and do doubles. Why remove doubles? Do you show a lack of usage that is worse than other playlists?

Your opinion =/= the majority of Reach’s population.

Did not think you would play that card, but glad you did. xD

Why do you want to remove the only FF playlist that I’m guaranteed to not find anyone AFK’ing in?

You’re a child arent you? Just curious.
@ everything you said that relates to Invasion:
Lol no… just no.
Tu in invasion is a bad idea, as HWM Sarge explained sometime ago. Moreover, 343i already stated that Invasion will NOT be recieving TU settings!
Inv Slayer/Skirmish may not be the most popular gametypes in the playlist, but there are those among us who truly enjoy it. Additionally, there needs to be enough maps available for players to properly enjoy the games.
Removing certain maps from the playlist will be an acceptable proposal only AFTER new maps are added to the playlist. This update WILL happen, Invasion forgers are in the final stages of refining our maps. We have many quality Invasion, Inv slayer, and Inv Skirmish maps lined up to add to the playlist. It’s just a matter of when the CCs can submit them!
Highlands, Ridgeline and Breakneck:
No sir!! Custom maps for slayer/skirmish, maybe…if they are up to par. But these maps CANNOT function as proper invasion maps! Not even after massive forge work, They just don’t work.
> Create a 4-player firefight playlist with regular firefight settings and NO ARCADE GAMETYPES.
Essentially bring back FF Limited? I doubt that it will return, but it does suck to see it gone.
> Apply TU to all playlists. Rename any gametype with the ‘TU prefix’ to its standard one. Eg. TU Slayer -> Slayer.
Eh, I still like vanilla settings in a few playlists. Invasion, Team Slayer (because Super Slayer is TU’d), and Infection come to mind. Squad DLC could definitely use the TU, though!
> -Add Highlands, Breakneck, and Ridgeline to Invasion.
> I’m not sure how well Invasion would work on Highlands and Ridgeline. Maybe somebody could create an Invasion variant? Breakneck would actually be kinda cool in Invasion!

> ZB Slayer could possibly stay, as it’s the only playlist that allows players to play Reach maps without bloom. I haven’t recently checked its population, though. Firefight Doubles and Score Attack are the only ways for some to actually play Firefight matchmaking, so I think it’d be detrimental for them to go. The only playlist I could possibly think of removing would be Anniversary FF.

> Just my thoughts!
Honestly All I want to see is a non TU objective playlist and a race playlist (race, rocket race, rally). I know I can’t speak on behalf of the community but I know alot of people that would agree with this.

I’m pretty sure he means for Invasion Slayer.
Those maps would work just fine with the drop points around the map, and plenty of alternate routes and cover to hide in when things get tough from snipers and vehicles.
Better than Invasion Slayer on wide open Hemmorhage.
The custom forged maps of course would be needed for standard Invasion.

Is killing AI really that difficult with one person not playing? I still don understand the complaints about AFK players in FF…all it means is more kills for everyone else.
There is a paradox implying that the majority of Reach players would agree on what an individual would want. People should suggest updates that would unify the game into one vision instead of catering to individual audiences, (updated Reach/non-updated Reach).
It should be a written rule that updates applied to a game should cover the entire multiplayer suite and not just portions of it.
I would suggest 343i TU everything and remove the TU prefix. Afterwords if it causes clearly identifiable problems 343i can work on fixing those. Segmenting the game into parts is the wrong way to handle it. The most clear example of this is TU not fitting in Invasion. I suggest TU is applied anyway to unite Reach’s online gameplay systems. If it unbalances invasion 343i can tweak the TU from there or use many of the available options to make invasion accommodate the TU. eg. an extra NR spawn for elites.
Also I am not suggesting removing score attack or doubles on principle but that they are less important then having a standard 4 player firefight playlist. doubles is easier to replicate in customs and scoreattack can be replicated in customs with a single player.
My suggested changes are also not all my idea. I personally do not care about squad slayer for example but clearly a huge majority of players would appreciate its return. Given the redundancy of super slayer I tend to agree.
If 343i updated the game with these updates I would be happy if they moved on to Halo 4 but as of now I am worried about the state they will leave Reach in before they discontinue support.
Also less ad hominem attacks in thread would be appreciated.

I don’t see how putting the TU into Invasion would be a good move.
AA changes might be fine, but not the current 85% bloom for precision weapons. The update is far from perfect.
What happens when a Spartan manages to get a Needle rifle on first phase of Boneyard? Suddenly they have a rapid fire 100% accurate rifle to shoot into those giant Elite domes.
Or for Spire, what’s stopping an Elite from grabbing a Needle rifle and sitting on the high rocks to snipe the slower Spartans as they spawn and run up the hill on the first phase?
I don’t think the older fans of Invasion would take kindly to that happening, or even messing with other aspects of the gametype just to get around those problems either. Some people don’t like the TU for those exact reasons, and certainly wouldn’t help in Invasion.

That’s the thing. For example, how are adding more Needle Rifles at spawn going to balance out the fact that its a rapid firing sniper machine still? That’s only changing the game flow, and changing the gametype some other way by say giving extra health or adding loadouts will only affect the old fans who have been playing the whole time, despite being forgotten about.
The only other way is not putting in the bloom, and just having the AA fixes if there’s a TU.
Or instead of wasting time implementing the TU in Invasion then listening to everyone complain and have to figure out how to tweak it they could, you know, just leave Invasion’s game settings alone while they update maps.
It’s already been explained WHY the TU won’t work for Invasion and why it SHOULDN’T be in that playlist. You might not agree and that’s fine but to stand on your pedestal and shout that it’d be better for EVERYONE is a fallacy and one that, again, has been proven over and over.

All it means is a boosting for credits. Go to Banned, do not pass Reach, do not collect 2,000cr

I am not sure what warrants such a violent reaction but I was only trying to express an opinion. Is anyone who wishes for an update in the matchmaking discussion forums automatically placing his/herself on a pedestal? For all I know all my update ideas could completely ruin the game. I am not absolutely sure that they would be good implementations but I have hope that they will be. I value all forum members opinions and only wish to encourage constructive debate instead of attacking other forum members. It’s disappointing to see a mod who I know is very intelligent and respectful to act like this IMO. I am still a big fan of all the mods.
Wolfawoo brought up a good point of applying certain parts of the TU to invasion. The larger issue I want to address is the segmentation of gameplay across playlists, and the TU prefix. I think it could be constructive to apply TU to everything but keep the bloom change out of invasion.
