Perhaps Uber might not be a perfect comparison to what I’m talking about, but I think the analogy fairly well captures the idea currently swirling around in my head.
Anyway this game, to me, is screaming for customs support. I know we have forums to look up people who want to game, but it’s not a very streamlined process. Perhaps a full blown custom lobby may be asking a bit much. But a simplified bulletin board where people could throw up their gamer-tags, and perhaps even a brief description (Ex: the Mota Boy: CE; Slayer) would do wonders for finding new people to play with. Think of it like a “Want Ads”. Somebody looking for games could put their name on a list and remove it when they’re offline. Others could pull up the list and click a name, then they would receive a prompt to send a message, follow, invite, etc. I’m not sure if this is something fans could do in an indie kind of way or if it would require support and development by Microsoft/343I.
I know this idea might have been born out of a matchmaking meltdown, which will soon be fixed, but I feel custom games are an important part of Halo’s culture. Such an application either patched into MCC or downloaded as an Xbox app would energize what I feel is really a flagging aspect of Halo’s gameplay. Any thoughts?
