I sincerely hope that some of you developers are going to read this so I would have done my part as a fan of the series.
First I want to say, I think Halo 4 is a great game. I loved playing the campaign, even if it was in my opinion too often some “press-same-button-to-enter-next-area”–Yoink-.
So, in a nutshell, I was saitisfied with the campaign in contrast to the Multiplayer.
So i just want to create a list of things I really don’t like about Halo 4’s Multiplayer Part:
*Ordnance System:
It is the biggest change from “Classic Halo’s” Multiplayer to Halo 4’s part. It is a nice idea, yes. But that was it.
The big problem is: it affects every single piece of the whole multiplayer part! So there are the points:
Halo is a Skill Game.
It always has been. It is about the players skill who wins. It is about the skill who gets the better weapons and it is about the skill who wins a match.
It shouldn’t be a question of luck who wins. Too bad exactly this happens with the Ordance Drops like this. Player A gets on one Base on Valhalla a Binary Rifle (+ let’s say Needler and Damage Boost), on one side of the map, while Player B gets on the other side a Gravity Hammer (+ let’s say Plasma Pistol and Speed Boost). Shouldn’t be too difficult to find out who will win this match.
Halo is about movement and speed.
It has also always been about this. if wanted some good weapons, you had to get out of your camper hole and move your camping -Yoink- to where you had your weapon of dreams. In Halo 4, let’s say you do some good kills at the beginng of a round and then get one of the snipes in the Ordnance Drops. You just sit there and do your kills until you get another Ordnance Drop. Chances are not too small that you will get another strong long distance weapon and all the camping starts all over again while in any previous Halo you had to at least move in some way or another.
The maps shouldn’t feel lifeless like this and should push me to explore them
Kind of the same thing like before: Halo is about the movement, but not just because of the gameplay, but also because of the “feeling”. I want to be rewarded for exploring a map. Like this, the maps just don’t feel like Halo, they feel lifeless like CoD.
Halo isn’t just about the shooting, it also about the driving
In Halo, you always had your fun with some Warthog-Driving-Action or Guerilla-Ghost-Tactics. Now, since Halo 4 you don’t even want to try to get into a vehicle other than a Mantis, Banshee or Scorpion, because let’s be honest: you are going to die. It happened more than once to me that my Warthog got raped by a Flak, Rocket Launcher and Incineration Cannon at the same time. In a nutshell: with the Ordnance System there are too many Power Weapons at the same time on the maps. Way too many!
*Loadout System
Armor Abilities
This is not as a whole a bad thing. Some parts I personally really like, like it was in Halo Reach the case. But I have to say: just throw the camo out of the game. That thing was beneath the Armor Lock the one thing that I hated about Halo Reachs Loadout System. Armor lock got kicked out. Good thing? Yes! But what makes it so much worse is the fact that it is now possible to camp around with Active Camo and now you don’t even have to move around to get some more Ammo for your Snipe, Shotgung or whatever…
Tactical Packages and Support Upgrades
Well this is short: it just makes Halo like many other things, not feeling like Halo any more. Too many complex things that destroy the simplicity of the Halo Feeling that we all love.
The thing is… 343, we all understand that you wanted to do some of your own stuff with Halo 4. We really do, even if some of us Halo Fans are not able to show that.
We just want Halo 5 to feel again like a Halo. Like a true, simple feeling Halo. Like a Halo in which every player starts the game under the same conditions.
We want to battle each other and the player with the better aim has to win.
We want to battle each other and the better player should be rewarded with the Power Weapon they were wrestling for.
I really, really hope that some of you will read this and also take it to your heart.
If not, I will jump off the Halo train I was following for so long.
Dear OP I feel like you dug into my mind and wrote down the same way I feel. I understand 343i wanted to show us their version of Halo but we didnt like it(which is why a beta is so important). Hopefully 343 can understand that ppl want to play HALO not (and forgive me for this) COD in space. Seriously why would anyopne else add something like Ordenance drops and loadouts in HALO. If you play COD at all you know that the whole game is based on your kill streaks and your personal loadout right? yeah I dont want that in HALO I like that in COD. I want to play HALO and have even starts and just fight over a powere weapon. The best feeling in the world is when I time down a Rocket spawn along with somone in the enemy team and it turns into a fight for it just to see who is better at the end.

I think it’s a cool idea to modify your spartan with these packages, stuff like Ammo seem to fit well, but dexterity and mobility need to go.
The biggest and EASIEST way to make this happen is to have a casual playlist that includes everything and a competitive list that follows classic Halo playstyle. Mind you that does NOT mean MLG settings. Leave MLG to a separate playlist. Competitive should be ranked. (Again to reiterate NOT MLG settings)
By having casual and competitive playlists, 343 would give US the option of how we can play. Right now, having CSR is every playlist sucks. There are times I just don’t want to “try hard.” Yet I feel I have to now due to CSR.
Conversely, there are times when I want a true competitive game that plays like previous Halo titles. IMO, Halo 3 had this right on. Others may agree/disagree. However, I think most of us can agree that a classic playlist is really needed.

And many of the Specialisation perks, because that is exactly what they are, especially Wheelman. The health of all vehicles in Halo 4 (that were in previous Halo instalments) has been nerfed. Badly. Wheelman buffs them to their traditional level of operability.

I pretty much agree with everything you said but especially the part i hightlight.I feel like the campaign was pretty dam good.Yes i do think at times they didn’t explain things well, and i shouldn’t have to find all the “terminals” or go to waypoint to understand the story and get more back story. It should be in THE GAME!! remember this 343,many of my friends have said this and i agree 100% with them and yes too much of this “press the button for the next area” i agree…now this being said, over all i did like and enjoy the campaign.
It’s sad to see this thread fall on page 4 after just one day… So little people feel this way? I totally agree that the randomness of ordnance (and weapon) drops hinder the often-mentioned Halo Feeling™. Personally, it seems like all the additional gameplay elements are to hard to balance, so… add some randomness, fixed! (may or may not be exaggerated …)
Please keep this thread alive, so anyone can see and think about this, and then communicate our wishes to 343…
This letter hits the heart of the entire german Halo-Core-Community in regard to Halo 4 Multiplayer. Everyone I know thinks the same about it.
(Even while we know that we are not taken into any kind of account.)
Currently I find myself playing more Halo 3, Reach, Wars and Anniversary than Halo 4.
