I’ve said it before a few times in random threads. But so many small details about this Halo are off, and the feeling is gone.
Iconic Red Vs. Blue dynamic? Gone. Radar indicating elevation? Gone. Slow TTK to add strategy and planning to combat? Gone. Weapons and vehicles placed on the map in thematic or organic placement? Gone. Weapons possess classic and unique quarks? (i.e. needler beats overshield) Gone. Vehicles a force to be reckoned with, each their own unique but recognizable physics? Gone.
Friendly fire? Gone. Collision physics? Gone. Spartans ragdoll on death and explosion? Gone. Instant kill from melee to the back/back sides. Gone. System split screen co-op? Not at launch. Forge? Not at launch.
There are more small details I’m forgetting but I keep noticing in the heat of the moment. It feels like this is a game of have nots, rather than haves. It looks and sounds halo for the most part, but it doesn’t feel like halo to me.
Am I saying this is a bad game in general? No. Besides the aim on console, weapons balance issues, and the battlepass situation it’s a well made modern shooter. It’s fun when people aren’t bing sweaty as -Yoink-. Is this a good “Halo” game? Not really. But that’s just an OG halo players take. Take it with a grain of salt. I know some people won’t agree, especially the new fans playing for the first time, or have only played 343 and modern shooters.
I’d definitely agree with you. Halo Infinite is fundamentally solid but suffers from trying to appeal to too many audiences at once while offending nobody. It feels just so bland, with weapon racks, static 1 power weapon per map (other than Behemoth), showing exactly where everything is, outlines, need I go on? Just feels like genericized Halo, removing most of the fun unique quirks, while bringing back the classic art style, equipment, and removing jetpacks as a way to cover for it, and I certiainly fell for it. I’m sure the game will be fun, but I can’t see myself playing the game for years, with MCC modding tools coming out, I feel that will have more unique and enjoyable content coming than Infinite. To be fair I could definitely be classified as a 343i hater (H4 is a bad Halo game, H5 is a horrendous game in general, IMO). It’s definitely 343i’s best game, but there is so many little things missing, that on their own aren’t a big deal, but they add up to lowering the quality substantially as you note in your post. Overall, it seems like Halo 5, with a Halo 3 paint job, and Halo Reach decor. Which yes does significantly help, just still is nowhere near Bungie’s Halo titles (Not a Bungie fanboy either, hate Destiny 1/2.)
I’ve played Halo since Halo 2 and I personally think this is one of the slowest TTKs of a Halo to date (5 shot BR??). Not sure I entirely agree with the vehicle physics. Also there are instant kill back melees. Rest of this I agree with, specifically weapon spawns seem tucked away and not important.
well said. i just really want some modern day, next gen, classic halo, br strafing, chess match action that made 2 and 3 so great. back when every player was on the same console with the same fps and the same input. at this point im resigning to the fact that i will just be relying on mcc for my classic fix forever.
This is a dumb take. Half of what you said is blatantly wrong.
collisions is still there, it’s just not for teammates.
Every single weapon in the flight is unique and has its own role.
insta kill from back melees never went away??? What game are you playing?
Split screen has been confirmed multiple times to be returning. They’ve literally said it. It’s just not coming to PC for launch.
”vehicles forced to be reckoned with” buddy we only have access to 3 vehicles and they’re like they always are.
weapons and vehicles all have been placed in unique spots like always, it’s just on a rack instead of the ground. This is a colossal nitpick.
Not only are you wrong, but your Takes are just spreading misinformation because you failed to play the game for more than 2 seconds, do an ounce of research instead of getting all your information from Bungie fanboy halo you tubers who thrash on any halo game that’s 343 made. If it doesn’t feel like halo to you then I can’t change your opinion on that. More power to you.
but the fact that you’re blatantly just saying incorrect statements and saying how you’re an OG fan like it means you’re special or something is the most obnoxious behavior possible. I don’t care if you played since CE or played since halo 5. Were all fans of the same game.

I said take a grain of salt, not the entire shaker in one go
More than one person agrees with me. I’ve played every day of this weekend. Everything I have said is true from my experience. I’ve never seen someone react so violently over something so small.

Found the toxic 343i fanboy who calls Bungie fans toxic, just for thinking Bungie made better games(which they did) lol
The clarify on the insta kill back melee, they do exist but I find you absolutely have to dead center hit them. No off to the sides even an inch or it’s a regular melee.
To clarify on the vehicles, they feel like they are made out of tissue paper, and the Warthog and Mongoose handle weird, not sure yet. Didn’t get enough play time the pin it exactly.
I think Infinite has great potential. Although missing some features at launch… notably a BIG one you missed is XP Progression like Halo’s before it (I guess alluded to it with BP). I don’t love the current implementation of the progression system… It is really detrimental to Infinite’s long term playability.
Infinite is absolutely a different Halo, but it still feels like Halo? I’ve played hundreds of hours, mostly of H2/H3 and currently HEAPS of MCC…I loved MLG and Competitive Ranked and had 50’s in most playlists… I never played much of H4/5, I’ve always preferred Bungie’s games and how they played. Halo Infinite feels so much better than 343’s previous instalments, I’m loving the gameplay, the addition of equipment and the toned down movement mechanics (compared to 5)
- Non Classic RvB I think would be a great addition to Ranked play, at LEAST as a toggle Option. - TTK is pretty similar? not a huge disparity? gameplay overall is faster paced. check out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhQGAqecr2k - Friendly Fire: I have a love hate relationship with depending on Teammates… It’s great in say ranked play because it requires you to play cautiously and not spam grenades etc. But can you imagine the betrayals with the current battle pass systems since they are Weapon and Gameplay orientated? Teammate would be betraying for sniper or to cap a flag just to complete challenges… A problem with the BP System obviously. - Splitscreen and Forge are coming, not a massive dealGive it some time, and allow 343 to respond to community concerns and feedback, I think its got the makings for a great, fun game and hopefully they course correct on a few glaring issues over the first few seasons.
The radar actually does indicate elevation. If it is a bright dot with a fluffy border then they are on your level. If it is a dull dot then they are not.

Must be very subtle, because I haven’t noticed. Or if I have I probably passed it off as my -Yoink- eye sight haha. I’m talking Arrow up for above, arrow down for below. I do believe Reach was triangles pointed in the direction of elevation.
You don’t have to be an “OG” to dislike or like HI, neither a new player. Bummer you are not enjoying it that much, gotta point out that half of the stuff you post are either bugs or can be tweaked
radar elevation and back smacks do still exist though. And as a fellow “og halo fan” (which youre on waypoint, who here isnt?) I dont care about the new color system, I like having my custom colors with shields/names being the indicator.
TTK, radar distance, aim assist, PC performance, the battle pass system and XP, map rotation are all my current issues so far. The game otherwise feels like a cross between halo 5 and 3 and it kinda works for me.

At the end of the day no matter what happens all new halos won’t be as good as h2/3, even if they are objectively better it won’t have the same “spark” that h2/3 had since those 2 were the games that launched halo to the moon, don’t know if I explained myself very well.
Seems some of the people responding here can’t comprehend I’m complaining because I want the best Halo possible, not because I hate or want it to fail. The exact opposite. I am simply stating what I personally have observed so far. Can these things be fixed? Yes. Will they? Only if I and others voice their opinion. When did we as a community lose the ability to discuss without getting offended by everything?

I don’t care if someone thinks Bungie made better games. Overall I’d say they did as well. Ill give 343 credit where it’s due and criticism when it’s needed. Still, it’s clear that the more toxic people are those who are begging for an exact replica of halo 3 and will never be pleased. Most toxicity is coming from Bungie fans. Not all though.
Guys, leave the Bungie Vs. 343 stuff elsewhere. That’s not what this topic was ever about. It was about core gameplay, and nothing more. Bring it back to the topic or move along.

The vehicles are not the same, they’re nearly impossible to flip/drive poorly. They’re weak as -Yoink- too health wise, particularly the hog. They’re also mentally fast.
Collision should be there for teammates, sick of -Yoinks!- walking into my sightlines and me having to walk through them to see. It just encourages crowding and explosive spam.
The weapons qualities aren’t that unique
Plasma pistol used to EMP, not anymore
G launch appears gone, so no more bounce shots
Shotgun used to one shot but have no range and slow ROF
New shotgun is just a spam gun with more range and no one shot capabilities, generic as -Yoink-
The ravagers amazingly unique ability is that it has splash damage…oooh…
The only good one is the shock rifle, love that. Very creative.
Yoinking! on 343 titles doesn’t make you a Bungie fanboy, nu-bungie sucks -Yoink- aswell.

I knew this game was gonna have issues like this when I learned it was being created in an entirely new engine. a lot of what made halo feel distinctly like halo can’t be 100% replicated when rebuilding everything from the ground up.
bruh
do you even comprehend what a technical test is, pal?
