Is it possible to get 20 million credits just playing campaign? If so, how long using the fastest way of getting credits would it take?
Since you would max out all of your campaign commodations from multiplayer long before you hit inheritor the only credits you would get is game complete and since it is a custom campaign (unless it is matchmaking campaign) you would barely earn any credits. Halo 4 would be out for a year before you even touch field Marshall. 
I liked the campaign as well.
it would be impossible. After you get all the campaign commendations, you no longer gain credits from doing campaign, but at the same time, you’re still pretty damn far from inheritor (you probably won’t even make it to brigadier).

Sure it’s possible, but you’d be an old man (woman?) by the time you finished. Why do you only want to play Campaign? Do you not have a Gold XBL membership?
It sure is possible, but it would literally take ages.
I’m a Legend know and thus get a maximum of 312 credits for completing a campaign mission, plus a handful of credits (usually around 60 - 80) from commendations. Even under ideal cirumstances that’s not even 400 cR per mission.
Now add to that the daily challenges that can be earned in campaign, and lets say that this earns you an additional 3,000 credits per week on average (it’s an arbitrary number; I have no idea how much you can actually earn on average). That would still mean that you’d have to play the campaign for years to get to Inheritor.
You could play the Co-op Campaign playlist to get regular cR reward payouts instead of being limited to small payouts in Private games.
Co-op Campaign games have a hefty payout though, about as much as FF Arcade depending on the mission.

Yeah, I’m less than 20K from hitting Eclipse and I only net 343-360 cR per campaign unless I max out an accomodation. There’s no way someone is legitimately hitting Reclaimer doing only campaign.
Besides weekly/daily challenges, they really don’t give a lot of incentive for folks to play Campaign. Once your commendations reach silver, you only earn credits for them when they advance to the next level. Right now, I can only earn credits for pistol kills, assualt rifle kills, assists and “flawless cowboy”
