Farming, most of us have been on the s*** end of that stick before. But I have an idea, a genius idea that’s so radical, so extreme it may just be slightly comprehensible.
A warzone playlist that doesn’t allow parties!
In all seriousness farming is a pretty cruddy thing that I’m sure no one enjoys (except the people who actually farm).
So why do I think this will work:
-
From prior experience i notice most farmers are in large 12 man party teams (and are in the same Spartan company) so what this does is it completely obliterated any chance of these run ins happening.
-
It should be rather easy for 343 to implement simply because it doesn’t have to manipulate any base concepts or map structure.
-
It could provide for a more casual experience for solo players.
now why this couldn’t work:
-
There is no guarantee it’ll stop you from being farmed. Some people work well together even if they’re total strangers and can still end up farming you.
-
It punishes the groups of players who don’t farm and are just looking for a good time.
-
It would further divide the community between different playlists and therefore decrease said playlist p opulation.
This is just a conceptual idea and is most certainly no where near perfect but still leave your comments and critisms below ( and please just keep them constructive).
On another note they could just decrease the fireteam size but I don’t feel like re editing this behemoth.
Or maybe they could limit the party size to a number between 2-4. In general, most farming parties are in the double digits, so that would prevent those groups from spoiling everything but still allow small groups of friends to play together.
Why not do what destiny did. People in a group get matched up against other people in a group and solo players get matched against solo players. Of course it’s not concrete and there is some room to work with to keep matchmaking fast
The trouble is, we here in the community can’t come up with a good name for a no-parties warzone playlist.
Compulsory Lone Wolf Training
"Although it’s highly unlikely an entire platoon of S-IVs will be wiped out by enemy insurgents, be they covenant or insurrectionists… the S-IVs must undergo training to adapt to stressful situations quickly and efficiently. As such they are given mandatory training sessions with random spartans on the roster. The Drill Instructor SSGT G. Johnson tends to smile creepily while listening to the ungrateful groans of his subordinates."
People including myself have already said that it would split up the population too much. And Full Rosters DO NOT want to play against other parties I’m sure, unless they already have Achilles. But having another playlist will give Full Companies an even bigger incentive to not play “Company Warzone” as I’ll call it for now, because now they know they’ll have a bigger chance placing against randoms in Vanilla Warzone.
So the gist of what I’m saying is, if they do add a playlist for only Companies to duke it out in. It won’t stop farming but INCREASE it instead because Full Companies can now specifically search against randoms.
But I think I may have misinterpreted what you were saying? Correct me if I’m wrong. But perhaps what you’re saying is: That Vanilla Warzone should lock out 12 man Fireteams? That will lead to complaining on the Forums. Because sometimes those who DO really want to play casually with 11 friends can’t now cause they’ll be forced to a specific playlist. If they decrease it to 8 man Fireteams in VWZ than it isn’t going to change much because eight players can still farm and the other eight will just help whether by accident or on purpose. And one party can still invite others to an Xbox Live party and you’ll still basically have a 12 man Fireteam assuming the randoms join in…
To be honest, most of us here want to stop farming. But 343 created a double edged sword that has an extra blade on its hilt… Being someone who designs maps myself and how I’m trying to get into the Videogame industry. (Trying to get into id Software/ Bethesda cause they’re local.) 343 went against all the rules and created a sorry excuse for a large team gamemode. 3-plot gamemode? Bad. Home bases that lack proper defense or sight lines and are basically nothing more than a funnel? Bad. Vehicles only being enclosed to “lanes”. Bad. How did Farming not show through during play testing? 12 man teams are surely going to farm, it doesn’t take a rocket engineer to know that it’ll happen with the way you designed your game. But to be honest Warzone was created by 343 the way it is for one thing… Money. And that has been shone through the REQ system in this game. People always disagree with me. But seriously. Who designs a base with a vehicle pad facing out into a battlefield (ARC/ Noctus) so people can hijack it easily? Well if that doesn’t automatically ring bells I don’t know what does?
Sorry for the long post OP, please correct me on anything I may have misunderstood. Cheers!

They’re not gonna have much of a population left at this rate anyway. I can’t get any of my friends to even touch warzone or even BTB anymore because 80% of the games are against full or mostly-full parties. It’s not competitive and it’s not fun. I recently had a game where 6 of my teammates each got 0 kills, the matchmaking is an unplayable joke at this point.
Idk why everyone is trying to over-complicated it though, just make it so that you can only face parties at least some-fraction your own size, so for example, parties of 12 need to wait for a party of at least ~8, and parties of 10 need to wait until it finds a party of at least 6, etc. There’s no need to split things up, just make them either wait or split up the party.

Yeah but that’s an idiotic idea when 343 wants people to play in companies together. That’s like saying Arena should be limited to 2 man fireteams. They shouldn’t punish people who don’t farm by catering to those who cry about being farmed.

Lol, sad but true. None of my friends even want to play this game let alone even LOOK at it… But I was actually going to mention that in my post, having parties match with similar sized parties through the normal search queue. But my original post got too long and I forgot. Thanks for reminding me.
Also, I’m just about ready to leave this game as well… I already have the DOOM collectors edition preordered, I’ll only jump back on to Halo 5 to Forge DOOM maps into the game XD. I’ve already started Heatwave and Infernal from the beta. Halo 5 just lacks the draw. Even with this new update I don’t even want to play.
There’s a reason Warzone matches split players up by putting objectives all over the map. Having 24 people fighting it out in the same spots at the exact same time the entire match is the opposite of fun. It’s just aimless chaos… Nothing wrong with decreasing the party size a tad if all they’re going to do is abuse people for playing the objective.
You don’t need 12 players doing the exact same thing at the exact same time to win a match. At least not in Halo. 12 player parties are not necessary at a casual level and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that it’s going to cause hilariously uneven matches. Even parties of 6 is stretching it, I feel… That’s 6 whole players who know how to combine fire.
While I agree it can limit this “farming”, it won’t stop stop players from working together. I think warzone was originally started with intent of a larger btb feel chaotic fight to it, however I think it’s also gotten people to work together with fire teams (which is great!) and they shouldn’t be punished for it just because solo players refuse to make friends. I’m a solo player majority of the time in warzone cuz my friends prefer arena over it, so I’ve had my -Yoink- kicked a few times but I don’t get upset because I can easily get a team if I need to. Seriously, so many people seem to think solo players are being punished when in reality, you’re playing solo at your own will in a game that’s designed to be a competitive (warzone can also be social but it becoming competitive was inevitable if you ask me, get the right people involved and anything can become competitive) team game in the first place. While I’m not vs adding something to help solo players, you can’t seriously blame the people who play on pre made teams.
To to clarify this up as well: I’m vs stat padding and kill farming, while its a strategy, it’s a cheap one that doesn’t show sportsmanship. Cool, you’ve shown you’re better than me, why drag the game on just to kill me a few more times? Now you make yourself look like an -Yoink- and your stats are overinflated due to false numbers that were never legitimately earned. What I’m ok with is a team creaming the -Yoink- out of me and getting the game over with as soon as possible. I’ll take a swift kick to the -Yoink- over you purposely dragging on a game to make yourself look better than you are. That’s my take on the whole matter, I’m ok with losing, I’m not ok with adding insult to injury though.
I think a back door helps prevent farming the one map that actually has a back door I’ve never been farmed or farmed on it. I one way teleport to a safe local would sort the problem out.
Don’t think I like this idea, at least for Warzone. Warzone is a lot of fun to play with large groups, and I don’t know if the population can sustain two separate lists. As a general rule, I don’t like when there are identical playslists with only one small change (like party restrictions).
I’d rather see Team Arena be made part size of 1 (so solo searchers can play team games) and a Team Objective playlist get made.
Dividing the population is never a good idea. There should be a “mercy rule” like there is in Destiny. If the match is a wash (800 - 200 or something like that), then the game ends out of mercy to the losing team. That wouldn’t solve the problem, but it would help.
