An improvement to the betrayal system.

So I posted this in another thread, it’s a suggestion for Halo 4’s betrayal booting system:

> Most people boot their team mates simply because they can and they have the power to affect someone else. That’s the reason 70% of people boot in 0.1 seconds within a betrayal.
> I think that you should be forced to watch a BETRAYAL CAM (Similar to Call of Duty’s kill cam but for betrayals) and it should show the options - “This player is a traitor, penalise him!” and the other option saying “It was accidental, give him another chance”, or something like that.
> *My suggestion would stop A LOT of accidental betrayal booting.

> Of course it wouldn’t eliminate accidental betrayal booting but it would certainly be a neat feature to tone it down.

Well for one the boot button should be changed to “Y”. Keeping the botting option as the same button as the loadout menu was not the smartest idea. Some people spam the loadout menu as soon as they die and might kick you by accident because of that.

Or rather, they could just have kill cams. It’s an awesome feature. Not very necessary for the average kill in halo but you can always skip it.

People will still boot regardless, it’s anonymity. This will hardly stop anyone. Infact, some people will pick either option just so they don’t waste time watching someone so said person can get back in the game.

Yes, a feature like this implemented would be nice. People need to know that I accidentally ran them over with a wraith to get away from some guy with rockets, not just to piss them off.

I’ve booted people accidentally before for running me over with a warthog, which seemed completely intentional at the time, but if I had a betrayal cam, I wouldn’t’ve booted them.

It also gives them a few seconds to calm, if they had a sniper, or some other power weapon, and realise the warthog was just trying to escape from a giant wraith chasing after it, they’d reconsider their decision.

As I said in the OP, of course people’d still boot but you cannot deny that it would stop a lot of people from booting as the player is forced to watch the betrayal cam.

Exactly.

If they want to keep the same betrayal booting system they have now, this is a step in the right direction.

Not a bad idea. Definitely a great way to help against people who quickly boot player.

wha REALLY pisses me off is when ur team mate kills u for a snipr or any other power weapon u are holding. then when u get back at them they can boot u? its like WTF!!??

i think there should be penalty thing for crap like that, and it should kill the player who betrayed the other by punching him, esspecially if ur teamate hits u twice, thats NOT an accedent.

i get accedental betrayals sometimes, but thats only because my temate was dumb enough to start assassinating a player i am engaging, step in front of me when i have a sniper, or assassinate a player i just stuck with a plasma gernade! or that one time my hog fliped all crazy and i got 2 betrayals plus a triple kill

anyways, i never perpously betray someone. never. i do if they kill me first and keep bothering me (punching me, shooting me, t-baging me when im trying to snipe, keep hitting me with vehical)

i just think that there are things the developers can d to cut this down to a minimum

Not a bad idea, mate. And it’ll be good for -Yoinks!- and giggles

Not a bad idea but that would most likely require some major changes to the engine and the netcode.

Doubt we’ll see it.

Can’t we just get rid of friendly fire I see no reason other than occasional accidental betrayals which could be considered funny. Most people seem to just abuse the system like killing you for power weapons/vehicles I don’t even bother taking anything at the start any more because I don’t want to make myself a target and when it does happen I can’t be bothered to play it any more. You can’t even rely on the betrayal boot system because it simply doesn’t work.

Every time this subject comes up I always wonder if the system can just look at what your target was when you pulled the trigger. If it was an enemy, it was an accident. If it was a teammate, automatic boot.

Could this be possible?

I think it would reduce booting to an extent, but still, if the player is a jerk, he will stay a jerk.

It’s a WAY better system than we currently have. Sounds good to me.

That would result in many, many cheat-like tactics that revolve around you not being able to kill your teamates. I can’t list any right now, because I don’t have the devious mindset, but nonetheless, people will find some (a lot, actually).

I guess people will try to ruin things no matter what you do but at least you would be getting killed by the enemy and not your own team.

Still wouldn’t change the 70% that just press it.

You can spam rockets mindlessly, you can run through a crowded area with no regard for your teammates with a warthog.
You could grenade jump other players into places of advantage.

Lol. what?
Are you sure its not just you?

Those are all good reasons however there all things that already happen
