I am just making this thread because i have seen alot of “what halo 4 needs” thread and i simply wanted to give an educated opinion (not saying that the other threads where devoid of those) about what i think we should use as a template for halo 4.
First off, here are some game score i got from metacritic ( i took those from the main halo games, not the spin-offs):
Halo CE : 97%
Halo 2: 95%
Halo 3: 94%
Halo Reach: 91%
Now, as you see from the scores, all main Halo games always rank in the 90’s. Which is a pretty good thing, but the issue is the trend in those rankings.
343i said they wanted to replicate elements of the first Halo like the mystery, which is a pretty good idea if you look at the rating of that game. Of course they should also take some stuff that was already successful along with what they are going to invent on their own. So this is what i’m going to do, im going to explain what i think should be in halo 4 and why without raging, how about that?
Things from halo 2:
I have honestly never played the multiplayer although i have bought the game to play the campaign so i have nothing to add here except maybe the clan tag system and perhaps the ranking system.
things from halo 3:
weapon and vehicular diversity: One of the best thing from H3 was all the weapons and vehicles you could use, it just made the game alot better and is a feature that made custom games very fun to play.
VIP and H3 infection: Those were the two gametypes i played the most because, with forge, you had so much awesome map variants that made it a never ending party.
Be an elite whenever you want:I like elites alot and i just though they added variety to the multiplayer, it was always fun to kill different opponents than the same spartans for a game.
things from Halo: reach :
Invasion: invasion is a great gametype that is destined for greatness, all it needs is a bit of help from the dev to achieve true greatness.
No-bloom: Don’t take me wrong, i though bloom was a good idea at the start, but the problem is that bloom originates from games where it takes 1-2 seconds to kill a player when it usually takes 5-6 in halo. Add things like bullet magnetism ( something that plagues the dmr) and it becomes unbearable. I have trouble understanding how a “precision” weapon can miss when fired directly at a target( not a rant). Recoil is a good idea, try playing Halo 3 Odst with the smg the recoil makes it that you need to burst fire to get your target, how about that?
