An idea to keep Reach's population till Halo 4

When Reach was released, we were introduced to unlockable armor via Halo Waypoint. It’s something that rewards players for past Halo accomplishments. A great idea, I just wish we had more of it.

Now let’s assume Halo 4 will have an armory, which I think is a safe bet. I think 343 should announce something well before Halo 4 release regarding unlockable items in Waypoint for Halo 4. Base these unlockable pieces off Halo Reach accomplishments. Examples like, …if you reached the rank of Eclipse or better, or …if you reached 100% armory completion, or 75% or better commendation progress. Things like this.

Reach’s population has been pretty decent lately (compared to last fall) this is most likely because of Christmas, but I think this type of incentive will help prolong Reach’s population Halo 4 is released. Above all else, it won’t hurt things.

That may interest some people…

But personally, nothing at this point would make me remotely interested in playing Reach again, i cant see past it’s flaws (and there are too many for my liking) instead i am patiently passing my time on Halo 3 (and having fun still!) until Halo 4 (or even a Beta  ) comes out.

I do not speak for everyone except roughly 30 odd Halo friends/fan’s i know both on XBL and RL (and i assume a fair few people on Waypoint! again i said assume!) Reach is just not fun, the TU and Anniversary setting’s which i had hope for still did not make a difference (which is a shame as i was actually really looking forward to them).

I find Reach to be very frustrating indeed, i cant find no fun in it, nor can i see any incentive (your idea for unlockables would of appealed to me if i could tolerate Reach).

Even with all that said above, i admit that your idea is a good one.

Why do you think maintaining a population will do much? 343 have done what they wanted to do with this game which is release title update for Anniversary settings and then keep MM Updates going until shortly before Halo 4s release.

Reach’s population will fix itself out eventually. When Modern Warfare 3 released it was as low as 20,000 at 2am. Now it’s usually about 50,000 at 2am. I think people are getting bored of the Call of Duty games and not so good games and returning to the best game franchise - Halo. It will fix itself a lot but will need more support along the way such as your idea. I’d make everyone get to Field Marshall and have a commendation progress of 60%, I think a lot of people would just give up if they thought it was too high or were a low rank such as Commander. I’d also introduce new, fun playlist’s that have never been seen before in Halo or any other games, I don’t have any ideas but hope that they make something new ASAP. But as I said, it’s in the process of fixing itself out. It recently reached 120,000 players online which I haven’t seen in quite a bit and that number is only going to increase when people start to realise how great a game Halo Reach is.

The only reason I dont play Halo3 is because of its flaws (unbearable lag, dying for no reason, not being able to respawn because the spawn count wont count down, people spawn killing {should only be a tactic for MLG, not halo mm as a whole}etc.), and Reach may not be fun to YOU but that doesnt mean its not fun entirely. People need to learn to speak for themselves, especially when over 120,000 people play Reach. OP I agree with Waypoint unlockable armor for Halo4.

I fixed flaws for you.

It’s pure opinion, all my friends came from Halo games since it was the only one I played online more then a week and made friends in.
Still some of these people stopped after Halo 3, others still went on even in Reach.
I too play a game on H3 once in a month but I still enjoy Reach.
Sure some things are badly implanted but when I see other forms of implementation I notice those things just happened to not belong in the other category, a fact other people still turn a blind eye to. For instance zombies can be fun and scary as hell with jetpacks, if implanted right that is.
The problem is some existing gametypes still do this implementation wrong, making them worse then previous gametypes we are used to.
People blame of course the aspects rather then the implementation itself.

Very interesting concept, but I don’t think this would be a problem, since at this point Reach is number four on the carts.

Combined with this it should boost the population even more.

The flaw’s you mentioned sound like some tool is simply trying to boot in order to cheat (on ranked list’s at least) this does happen to me but very rarely which is probably due to the fact that i play on my rank locked TS/Snipes/Dubs 50’s and so i match up with and against similar people who simply play for fun as they already have their rank so cheating is pointless. I also did say the word ‘personally’ in my post and it is my own opinion, i do not like Reach, i do not care if other people do that is their opinion and i respect that.

Exactly, it’s my personal opinion and i see them as flaws. And my opinion is - Reach is CoD in space, simple as that, but that does not mean i do not respect other peoples opinions.

CoD in space? I cant even take your opinion seriously if you think Reach is anything like that game. Just because of bloom and loadouts? Is that it? GROW UP

I don’t really care about unlockable armor myself, I already have everything I want for my spartan, but this is an interesting idea. It could keep other players around, but i’ll play Reach just because it’s Halo.

They did speak for themselves
