What if Cortana got inside the Master Chief’s mind, by linking to his mind, attempted to save herself from rampancy by transferring her thoughts and what she was going through into Master Chief, and the final boss is Master Chief having to find a way out of this ‘box’ or ‘room’ Cortana has trapped his sanity in, and then once he ‘breaks free’ he finds that he’s killed one of the members of the UNSC Admiralty or something even more messed up.
Remember, Cortana was somewhat rampant thanks to data overload from the first Halo ring but kept it well under control by transferring the parts of her personality matrix that were going rampant into the Chief’s mind, where she could control them while remaining somewhat separate from them. When Cortana was left behind on High Charity these fragments manifested themselves in Chief’s mind as the Cortana moments in Halo 3.
What if Cortana drove Master Chief insane in a future Halo game? Think about it. Or even better yet, what if she manipulated him into doing some sort of injustice against mankind making him sort of a pseudo-antagonist to the UNSC.
There’s so many wildly different directions the story can be taken, let’s give 343 some of our ideas.
NO! RvB is doing that already. And RvB sucks!

Whoa, whoa. whoa. whoa. whoa…Back the -Yoink- up! RvB doesn’t suck.

It sucks so much. Its an embarrassment to Halo.

Hey, you shut your dirty mouth. RvB is awesome

Hate to say, it DOES sound like the Freelancer program in some ways. So while it is an interesting possibility, I would have to say no to this idea.
343’s bringing back Forerunners, introducing a new faction of Covenant for us to fight, and I do suspect it’s only a matter of time before the insurrection rears its head again. So there’s plenty to look into on the table for ideas, but I do applaud your attempt for originality.
Personally? I’d rather go with a story of a group of Spartan IVs who find out some of the truth behind what ONI’s done with previous Spartan projects and rebel/join the insurrection against the UNSC to bring them down for it. The Spartan IIs were the heroes of the new generations, and how would they react to learning of the reality that their heroes were children stolen away from their families and homes and be turned into living weapons?
Maybe they wouldn’t turn. The decision to or not with that information strikes me as some real RPG/Mass Effect B.S, so I’ll digress and just leave things at that.
Cheers, buddy.

This topic is about spilling your beans about ideas you may have on the direction the Halo storyline could go, not Red vs Blue.

That would be an awesome storyline as well. I definitely would like to see ONI incorporated into a later Halo game as antagonists. I don’t think 343 would go that route though, with human enemies and all. Awesome ideas though man, thank you very much for that contribution.

No problem. I suppose a decent alternative would be a return of the ODST cast as Spartan IVs in their own game, or at least in their own exclusive set of Spartan Ops. Personally I would doubt it, but you never know.

While I am a fan of RvB as well and disagree with whats-his-face up there, let’s just lay off now. The thread’s just for bouncing around ideas of future Halo games… That would probably end up as an inspirational basis for machinimas and fanfics to come. Either way, let it serve its intended purpose.
And to justify this post, I’ll say that another possible idea could be based off of Glasslands. We had ONI backing some Sangheili terrorists in their attempts to oppose Thel Vadum’s forces, and it could lead to an interesting basis of the UNSC’s “assistance” towards their allies while the spooks continue to pull the strings in the back.
It would be a good enough excuse to bring back some “Spartans/Elite co-op team” back like what we had with Halo 3.

oh, okay, lets see your famous video game machinima series that has been airing for around 7 years in dedication to a famous video game franchise that has not only marketed but also set aside said game to be unique due to the machinima… oh you dont have one?
> NO! RvB is doing that already. And RvB sucks!
Do we need to take this outside or something?
> NO! RvB is doing that already. And RvB sucks!
Considering you have such knowledge of current RvB events I’d say it doesn’t suck as much as you think it does Prime.
