ok so ive heard ALOT about pelicans being a “flying killtacular”,so insted of makeing the thing explode why not just make it spinnaround and just crashland like you see in halo3… same thing with phantoms except it should just rockback and forth and fall straight to the ground. the pilot dies in both senarios leaving the crew disorented but alive… disscuss.
this is a good idea, but it would have to fly a few meters first, then crash, dont no if it would look good/if they can make it look likr its jsut crashed into the ground
hmmm… good point…it probably wont look good at first but 343i can allways improve.
but what happens if the pelican (god forbid) is flying over a cliff?
it needs alot of heath too
like 4 scorpion shots, or 6 laser shots to kill it
um…
i got it what if insted of getting a killtacular the guy gets some other minor ish medal… sorta like splatter except it could be called devastation or something like that, and i guess the whole team will have to die as the end ressult…
Or they could add a type of alarm and flashing red light that will start when the pelican/phantom hit critical damage level, it would simply give the passengers a few seconds to escape before it explodes or crashes. The pilot would be locked in the cockpit to atleast reward the effort and ammunition that a player has given. And possibly a medal like mentioned above, a Devastation for four or more kills by taking down a phantom/pelican and a Ceasing the Air for taking the phantom/pelican down. Just a thought.
btw, I have no idea what i typed to be “Yoinked” but i meant to say start*
Sorry.
i can see that happening befor it crashes with the red light an all… well lets just say the pilot dies once the pelican “looses power” and starts to crash thus erning the medal, … and to sorta keep the pelican from falling off a cliff have the pelican crash as if it where hit by an emp insted of flying over half the map spinning in circles…
i hope what i last typed makes scence
I get what you’re saying but I think it should atleast spin once while flaming just to add the epic realism touch. To give that sense of epicness to both the players in and out of the pelican/phantom. It will most deffinately give that sense of war to the battlefield. Haha. But yeah, red flashing lights and a screeching alarm to give every signal that the vehicle is going down and that survival requires immediate action. so the players who act quick enough will eject out and some how survive, how though is still a work in progress. Parachutes are too much and unrealistic in 2552(whatever year, I lost track). Maybe an emergency jetpack that will simply have enough fuel to land with some shield damage and then you have an animation that will throw it to the ground? Idk. Maybe a short burst of over shield that will soften your landing but you still get injured, when you’re about to jump you do something to over charge your shields. Something.
It must, in my opinion, still be controllable to a limited extent depending on where it is hit. Say if the right engine is hit with the minimal force required to cripple it, the pilot cannot steer left and will always veer right rather sharply. It will also be hard to maintain altitude, so the passengers may have to bail. If it is destroyed with maximum force, some damage is done to all passengers and the pelican/phantom will spin out of control with alarms beeping like a helicopter and be barely controllable, only to the extent of veering slightly to try and choose the best spot to crash land. The pilot also may not be able to bail, meaning you will get at least one kill for your troubles of destruction.
If damage is done to the body of the craft, this can cause passengers to get harmed and even die while still in the pelican/phantom. It can also cause the whole craft to explode with maximum force. If the cockpit is hit, the pilot is likely to die and the vehicle is momentarily nudged off course. At the worst it completely obliterates the pilot and sends the vehicle down without a driver. These sorts of varying damage results add fun and variety to the game. They also add the need of tactic when taking one down. There ideally would be 4-6 passenger seats (maybe 6 for pelican and 4 or 5 for phantom), one machine gunner (two for phantom) and one pilot. This is balanced because the pelican/phantom isn’t an easy killtacular because most of the time only the vehicle and a few passengers get destroyed and you need real skill and a good weapon for a total takedown.
There should be a lack of good weapons on board, mainly because it is an APC, not an offensive vehicle. I would say a machine gun turret at the back to be operated by a single gunner, and maybe a weak turret at the front (just like Reach’s Falcons in campaign) to be operated by the pilot.
The benefits of transporting a good portion of your team in an armored flying gun vehicle weighed with the takedown factors is definitely balanced and i think is required for Halo 4 onwards.
Also, i might add, is the fact that these ships should only be for the Big Team matches, especially if the player limit is raised, and for Forge. Definitely for Forge.
Thank you.

No no no, it should be what you have with you, if you have a jetpack on hand, you may use it, but there should be that the passengers have to bail at the right time to receive the least damage. Otherwise its too hard to get kills.
red light comes on, 10 marines/spartans jump up all tryying to get out at the same time, if only the pilot had a button where he could activate a false red alarm, fly over a cliff, hehehe
as for bigteambattles in matchmakeing. … the pelican will be a living death machine if it requires alot of skill to take it down even with a “weakend” nose cannon. As to weather the crew is able to evacuate may be a little complex same with the flying stability when the pelican/phantom is crippled. although i like the one epic spin befor it crashes.

GRR! my/your ideas came too late! they’re allready almost able to ship the game practically a month before the actual relace date! they must add more! allthough if they do they’ll be relacing a $60 game for $40
