Okay first things first, I won’t write the OP in colored font for the readers sake.
Now down to business. I know that many of us want the classic Halo feel, and that many of us HATE loadouts, and that some of us like them.
However, I highly doubt 343 is just going to abandon loadouts altogether. Fine. But I do think they’re going to go for balance based on feedback (otherwise they’re lying)
This isn’t exactly something I’m HARDCORE about, but I DO think it could help.
Make the loadouts sort of like Reach (Not EXACTLY) I know I know, Reach sucked, but some people think it’s unfair to have ENTIRELY custom loadouts Halo 4 style.
Instead, have the loadouts based on GAME-type (Classic would have NO armor abilities, etc.) but give a selection of different primary weapons (to keep people from spawning with the PP or Plasma Grenades) in the pre-game menu to allow for player preference. Some like the BR, some like the Carbine, etc. (make the DMR a map pickup, don’t get rid of it) And make armor abilities map pickups that would very based on use similar to equipment, but not a carbon copy (hologram can be used ten times for example, thruster pack could be permanent but have a SLOW cooldown)
No perks.
Camo would be a map pick-up.
No personal ordinance.
Just an idea, feel free to place in ideas of your own if you see flaws here, etc. Just keep it civil, please.
Old, new, familiar, and cool. Yesh.
I dig it!
Maybe if there are more secondary weapons (but not the PP) in Halo XBO, you could have a choice between them as well. Or not if people have issues with balance.
This idea has my support. I’m not a fan of the “All that is new must go or else” arguments, with the possible exception of Perks, so this seems to me like a very good idea and reasonable compromise.
I’d hope though that we can continue to customize them at will for Custom Games!

Custom games should NEVER again be so stripped like it was in Halo 4.

So at the beginning of the game, everyone has a choice of what weapon to use depending on the gametype. Isn’t that pretty much exactly what Reach did? It seems as though you could have said it more simply: “take Reach’s loadouts, put AAs on the map, and give AAs limited uses.”
