You’re the one that made the ridiculous implication that everyone on the pro-sprint side is mature, and on the anti-sprint side is immature. How do you expect someone to respond to that?
What makes people passionate about sprint being removed is past experience with the game mechanic and our hatred of it. The point that the OP is making is that even in the minds of pro-sprint people, there’s nothing so fantastic and compelling about that game mechanic that they would be up in arms about it if it were removed. So why have a game mechanic that induces hatred in a large part of your fanbase, but even among the people who are ok with it, it doesn’t really matter to them if it’s in or not.

Would you be making threads about the lack of sprint?

No honestly i would not have been disappointed, i would think this looks like a beautiful game with classic halo 3 Gameplay…
However i would NOT have posted a thousand forums about how no sprint was stupid and complain about it every chance i got. coughcough

I would never make such a blatant generalisation. I simply suggested that it “demonstrates a distinct dichotomy”, which is something that I’ve observed as a player who is entirely neutral on the matter of sprint. I will grant you, though, that one side has more reason to be upset than the other. Nevertheless, I do think that they are going about the whole matter in the wrong way.
No, not really. Wasn’t disappointed they didn’t show forge either, doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be there. Not that sprint is as important as forge, but I do like it.
I would be disappointed, although it doesn’t fuss me too much. What I hate is the stupid and mundane reasons this forum comes up with for it’s removal.
I would rather the thinkers at 343i decide whether it is good or bad then the fake competitive players who spam the forum with unproven lies and illegitimate arguments.

Honest Answer: As an old fan of halo(played’em all), I wouldn’t really be disappointed. And I wouldn’t make a billion threads about sprint not being implemented. I like halo, and I will of course look at halo 4 as an improvement. Tbh, seeing halo 4 without sprint would kind of defeat the purpose of modernizing this game and making it futuristic (where Spartans can’t run lol). Anyways, I would still buy the game and have tons of fun with it.
That doesn’t mean I think sprint shouldn’t have been implemented in this new trilogy. I would just have to cope with it.

Agreed. Good to see 343i is thinking like this as well.

It would be interesting to see his response actually.
Spartans shouldn’t be exhausted from sprinting for 15 seconds, it makes the whole ordeal even more ridiculous.
But when they “sprint” at a constant speed, that is weird since they are fictional super-soldiers and those shouldn’t be able to run at constant high speed for at least an hour. /sarcasm.

That would be very cool. I may be jumping the gun on this, but whose to say that at some point in time, in this trilogy, we wont have the full fledged capabilities of a Spartan?
That would be really interesting to exploit a true Spartan.

Yeah, dude. Like, it would be too bad if they weren’t prioritizing canon over gameplay and enjoyability, right?
I’d be sodding done!!! How could anyone ever misprioitize so incredibly badly?
I don’t understand how sprint is innovative and modern from a developing perspective either. It’s not like Bungie invented it, it’s not like it hadn’t been in loads of other games before, it’s not like it actually improves on anything, adds anything, or solves any problems in Halo. Especially none that couldn’t be solved by simply increasing the base movement speed.
How is it pushing Halo forward?
But yeah, it’s sort of nice to have for customs. I’ve seen lots of creative gametypes utilising these armorabilities, and honestly, lowering the customizability from one game to the next in a series would be sort of lame.
I don’t want it all over matchmaking though.
Maybe in some sort of social playlists or just som other specific sort of playlist. Casuals are fine without it, but competitive people are everything but fine with it, so to make the majority of playlists as enjoyable as possible to as many as possible, this is what needs to be done.
Regardless of sprint being in there or not, I trust that when all these new features were built-in from the beginning, it’d be kinda hard NOT to balance it all in 3 years.
I was giggling like a little schoolgirl at the ViDoc, and Sprint didn’t bother me. I don’t think it would’ve changed with/without it.
> Probably not. I think sprint is a great mechanic in Halo and I would be very disappointed if they got rid of it, but if something is confirmed and I know it then I would probably just talk about it over a game of Halo with my friends.
In the multiplayer footage sprint is seen when the spartan IV goes through the lift when they’re talking about the HUD.
If they balance it by changing base speed I’m fine, I just used it to get from A to B faster because movement is atrocious in Reach.
