an honest opinion of a 10 year halo fan

First off I’d like to say that I know there are a lot of threads already and that 343 can’t answer right now but I want to express my utter disappointment.

When Halo first came out I didn’t know what to expect.
To my own surprise it was and still is the best game I have ever played.
I spend many hours enjoying myself with the campaign and split-screen multiplayer.

Over the years a became a huge fan of the Halo franchise.
My love for the game became bigger and bigger with the releases of Halo 2 and 3.
It just blow my mind away.
I also started reading the books and lurking the web for even more lore.
The whole franchise was amazing.

Then things got different with Halo: Reach.
There we’re quite a bit of flaws in the story line which conflicted with some things happening in the books. As someone who really loves the story line this was quite a big disappointed in my eyes.
So I decided to cheer myself up with some multiplyer. Which would definitely do so with its hundreds of hours of entertainment. Or so I thought atleast.

Bungie had decided to start copying other shooting games. Most notably Call of Duty.
I wont go into the details of that because that will just make the post twice as long.
The game had turned Halo into a more noob friendly game and it took a part of the skill gap between casual and more hardcore players.

I was sad to see Bungie leave the Halo franchise but considering what they did to Reach I thought it was for the best. I didn’t know what to expect from 343. But when the time pasted you decided to add a few changes to the play lists which I really enjoyed. The game started to look a bit more like the Halo we know it.

When it was announced that Halo 4 was being made I was overjoyed.
I cant quite express how happy I was to hear that my favorite franchise would continue on with its original story line.
Sadly for me (and of course a lot of other fans) there wasn’t a lot of info about the game.
My mind was filled with thoughts of the possibility that they might ruin Halo 4.
But I willed them away with in mind that 343 did a good job with Reach so far.

Today my worst nightmare came true though.
Just now I found out about the leaked info of Halo 4.
I went to check out the details of multiplayer. I was hoping to see that they removed the flaws that were Reach and that Halo 4 would be a true Halo again.

My jaw dropped when I was it was on the contrary. It looks like the game will be an even greater copy of Call of Duty. Judging by this info the skill gap between players will be completely removed.
This wont be a strategic shooter anymore but rather another spray and pray game.

I’m utterly disappointed right now and I’m struggling to find words to express myself but there are none.
At this point Halo is dying for me. The great game franchise which I love so much is being killed in front of my eyes and I’m unable to stop it.
I don’t even dare think about what the plan is with the campaign but its highly likely that it too will be ruined.

I’m sad to say this will be the first Halo game I wont be buying.

10 year old
Stopped reading there, can’t take you seriously.

China called…ah i’m too old for this…

Maybe you should read better. The word “old” doesn’t appear at all. I have been a fan of Halo for 10 years.

You completely misunderstood the title.
This speaks volumes about you.

> China called…ah i’m too old for this…

Nice ballad.

I’m a 7 year Halo fan, and I sure as hell feel like this guy.

He means he’s been a Halo fan for 10 years -.-

OT:

I myself have enjoyed the Halo Universe for a decade. What with the books, Halo Legends, and the games at the pinnacle. I understand a lot of the disheartening in many veteran fans such as myself, however I believe that without a full understanding of what these new features will entail (I mean with a video or Gameplay Demo, not assumptions or opinions(343’s or your owns)) we as Halo fans are not able to judge.

I have enjoyed Halo for 10 years. I am 16. Do the math. I was 5, there was a big green man shooting people who liked warts(Wort wort wort). That is where it started, he is my hero, my icon.

I shall walk on unknown territories to see what lies ahead.

Halo stopped being Halo when Halo 2 came out.

Halo stopped being Halo even more when Halo 3 came out.

etc. etc. etc.

> 10 year old

I hope you see the irony of your statement.

I think you should all stop whining about a game you know nothing about. Also just because your a 10 year fan it doesnt make you any better then anyone else on here.

rolls eyes

do yall really expect halo to keep pumping out CE remakes every 3 years forever?

Halo is trying to get back out there by appealing to a larger demographic, dont like it? Then be an introverted bitter 20 something year old nerd.

This thought process flabbergasts me. Anyone who has been a fan of the series since the very start of it SHOULD IN FACT have a higher prioritized opinion of what Halo is defined to be. If you’ve started playing Halo with Reach and that’s it, then you don’t understand why everyone is so upset. That’s like saying a 70 year old person doesn’t have more insight about life than a 16 year old person.

May I refer you to my post a few up ^^

I never said I’m better than you or anyone else. You’re putting words in my mouth.
I’m just stating my opinion on the current information available.
Although we don’t know everything yet, its still enough to see that the game will be a quite different.

Just from the first sentence, I know that you have no understanding of the other side of the argument.

In this case, either take time to understand it, or don’t comment on it. It’s very simple.

If you’ve been there since the start then I am proud of you. But you still don’t have more insight in life than an average 70 year old person =P

You can be 16 and understand way more about Halo than someone who is 30 and has only played Reach. You have 10 years of Halo experience which is pretty much the full length of the series, making you an elder in the Halo realm.

except halo 3 was pretty much an exact copy of halo 2 but played slower and was less fun. the gameplay still stayed very much the same.

Omg…

> Omg…

wow…lets try to be a little more constructive
