What if… It was open world!!!
That would be awesome. Exploring an alien planet and finding Forerunner stuff! Itd be sooooo cool!
We can’t just play Halo because it’s Halo and Fallout because it’s Fallout, can we? They have to be blended. There’s no other way.

We have to go deeper
So lemme get this straight, you want Halo to keep being so -blam!- linear?
Take ODST for example. I want something else like that. And also observe MCs situation. He starts out on this new world with nothing but his legs.
Fallout is far too depressing for my tastes and this Forerunner world looks amazing. We’d be able to learn a whole lot more about the mysterious Forerunners if we could roam some.
Or are you just the shallow type that enjoy shooting things?
It’s good and all to try new things, but trying new things and flipping the script are two different things. Just because you can doesn’t mean you should.
sure the environments are open in the levels but you are still limited to the area of your current level, meaning Halo is not open-world. If ts not open world, its moderately linear. Now its probably one of the least linear linear games I know, but the fact is you cant go where you want when you want. ODST you could. A sizeable portion of Mombasa was open for play, and you could go anywhere in it, and start missions at your own pace. That was open world.
The previous Halos were not like ODST where you can go anywhere, its do this objective, watch scene, then go to this objective, watch scene, next level. Thats linear. Now its no COD where they basically draw out a line for you, but it is still SOMEWHAT linear. Then in the case of Halo 3 there are the invisi-barriers and walls that come in behind you, restricting you to a portion of the level. Its not open world if the world closes as you progress through it.
If it’s open world, I’m not buying it.
