An Alternative to, Spartan Chatter.

(At the time I’m writing this I know of nobody who has had this idea.)

I am very happy that 343i is implementing this kind of feature into Halo multiplayer.

To all of you who don’t know what Spartan Chatter is: Spartan Chatter is a new feature in which your in game spartan, (as well as everybody elses,) will give pre-recorded call outs that let you know things such as: Their actions, enemy locations, power weapon possession/location, enemy player’s status, etc.

I think this is a great addition due to Halo’s competitive nature, and its reliance on player communication to succeed. Why I do use a headset, I’m one of the only players, if not the only player communicating to my team. This feature will give me some compensation for a lack of teammates that wish to communicate, or simply can’t.

I think I have a better way of implementing that communication feature though.

Imagine if you had your own Smart AI in multiplayer.

Think about it, your own personal Cortana. They would do all the same functions. Communicate power weapons, enemy positions, and your teammates actions. The reason I like this idea over Spartan Chatter is the customization. You could customize their: Gender, Hair, Ethnicity, Body-Type, Facial-Structure, Clothes/Body-Paint, Color, Voice, Personality.

Your AI could be a reflection of you in the multiplayer, and it could make the experience more personal.

This probably won’t be in Halo 5: Guardians, but I still think its cool.

Please voice your own thoughts and opinions on this topic in the comments below. And please be respectful in your responses.

As long as it can be toggled on and off, I have no complaints. I rarely use a mike when not with my friends, and extra customization is always a positive.

its an intriguing idea, but i can’t imagine 343 having the time or capabilities to do this in any game. It’s really asking for a lot.

This is a very interesting idea. I like the concept of the customization and personalization of your own AI, on top of that it fits canon.

my biggest concern would be the resulting chaos from hearing your Ai and the announcer sounding off one after another, essentially drowning each other out, but if your AI were to replace the announcer altogether, it would be much more feasible. Also, Jeff would be out of a job

Spartan chatter is good because it sounds more organic and blends into the sounds of battle, rather than blending in with the announcer and causing confusion/oversaturation.

the biggest issue though is that (even though we are a whole year out from release) it is probably too late in the development cycle to implement a feature this big. When planning games, developers have to sit down several years ahead of time and figure out which new features fit the budget/schedule, and they usually end up cutting it pretty close to the time they are given to release it. So putting a feature like this in at this point would delay the game several months.

I like the idea though, if you can keep it in circulation maybe they will consider it for Halo 6.

A customizable AI? That would be neat.

I agree. The A.I working as a custom announcer would be much more logical. Jeff being the default voice of course.

An announcer is necessary for all players while chatter is only useful to those not using a mic. It makes a lot more sense to put the resources of something like this towards something that everyone will wana use instead of something that only some players will.

So I’d prefer a custom announcer and toggable chatter. And the ability to skip that end screen with the winning teams victory gloat would be nice too.

Though canonically it could be an issue because smart A.Is are so expensive and the UNSC couldn’t afford to equip every SIV with one so we might be downgraded to dumb ones unless some revolution in AI manufacturing pops up, Halsey’s cloning method might be the key to something like that.

P.S My A.I would be a Cowboy named Rusty.

That would be cool, but would interfere with the lore.

Oh no I don’t think they could do this. I just think its a cool idea.

I agree. It isn’t something I’ve completely fleshed out. You’re correct in that there is NO WAY this could be done for Halo 5: Guardians. You do bring up an interesting point about the announcer. The sounds could get muffled together. I think somebody in the comments suggested the announcer being the AI. With Jeff Stietzer being the default voice, and personality. I think this could be really cool, and something 343i would do. But definitely not for this Halo game.

It would. But it’s just a form of support via vocal communications. It’s really just meant for fun and player expression. While I like the lore being respected and implemented. I think there are good ideas that would have to ignore the franchise lore to work.

Crysis 2 mp seems to be the closest thing to halo 5 mp you want to see how the ai chatter will go… And a few other features.

I did own a copy of crysis 2. I never got into the multiplayer though because I perceived it as a single player game. I did remember having a lot of fun in Crysis 2 though.

Yes i do agree it would be cool to make an a.i. but its definetly not gonna be in H5 more like H6 if we ask for it enough
